Police Log: Summons for Littering, Baby in Carrier Dropped

Tuesday, Aug. 21

5:33 p.m.: A man walked in to police headquarters and asked to speak to an officer regarding a harassing letter he received.

6:38 p.m.: A caller on Fox Lane reported a propane tank on the back porch was on fire. Firefighters extinguished it.

6:40 p.m.: A caller on Walden Way complained of noisy dogs inside a house on the street.

7:06 p.m.: A caller reported one man was in custody at for shoplifting, another two men took off. He could not provide a description of them, but they were carrying backpacks.

7:34 p.m.: A caller reported kids were loitering in a parking lot on Prospect Street.

8:31 p.m.: A man reported an issue with his girlfriend when he was moving his things out of the house.

9:07 p.m.: A caller on Calvin Drive reported a suspicious motor vehicle with a man inside acting "strangely." Police searched the area but the vehicle was gone.

10:12 p.m.: A recycling bin was reported to be on fire on Edgewood Drive. The fire was extinguished when firefighters arrived.

10:29 p.m.: A caller reported three men on Chestnut and Orchard streets were "talking about stabbing someone." Police arrived but they were gone.

Wednesday, Aug. 22

2:34 a.m.: A caller on Water Street reported people on the second floor were being loud. Police spoke to the people involved.

6:49 a.m.: An officer on Beaver at Birch streets issued two verbal warnings and two written warnings.

8:11 a.m.: A caller reported his tenant saw a black pickup pull up on Thayer Street and dump garbage in a lot on that street. Police are seeking a summons to charge Joseph F. Crowley, 50, of 6 Water St., Milford, with trash/littering from a motor vehicle.

9:01 a.m.: A caller on Bancroft Avenue reported a woman was picking through trash cans.

11:33 a.m.: A caller asked police to check on the well-being of children at on Medway Road. The caller said she observed a woman with three older kids, between ages 4 and 8, a 6-mos. old baby and a 2-year-old pick up the 2-year-old "in a headlock and pull her by the hair and drop the baby carrier with the baby to the ground." The woman and children then entered the shoe store, she said. Police filed a report.

12:18 p.m.: A woman said she was being threatened. Police are seeking a court summons to charge Debra A. Kennon, 60, of 7 Genoa Ave., Milford, with criminal harassment and threatening to commit a crime.

12:43 p.m.: A caller reported suspicious activity on Grant Street. A man was "going through a car" and claimed it was his friend's. Police reported the window was smashed in.

4:22 p.m.: A caller asked police to check on the well-being of a man walking from toward . He had blood on his leg. The man was gone when police arrived.

4:35 p.m.: A caller on South Bow Street said he found a "large, dead crow" in front of his house. The animal control officer was contacted.
