Police Log: Smashed Mailboxes on Highland, Surrounding Streets

The following information was provided by the Milford Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Friday, Aug. 2

2:04 p.m.: A man asked to speak to an officer about a bicycle that was stolen from his home.

2:25 p.m.: A caller reported a kite was stuck in wires near Plains Park and causing a traffic hazard. Police called National Grid, who agreed to respond to the scene.

6:55 p.m.: An officer pulled over a vehicle on Highland Street at Glennon Drive. Police arrested Stephen Ashley Thomas-Morrison, 40, of 17 Lake St., Hopedale, on a charge of operating a motor vehicle with a licensed revoked as habitual traffic offender.

7:31 p.m.: A caller at Prospect Heights said a large group of people was playing ball in the park, and they were hitting vehicles. Police checked and everything seemed OK.

9:03 p.m.: A caller on Metcalf Avenue said a man was starting and stopping his motorcycle, creating a noise problem. Police found no issue.

10:02 p.m.: A caller said he could see several flash lights in the rear of Santos Garage, on South Free Street. He thought they got into a vehicle. Police responded but could not locate the people.

10:33 p.m.: A woman reported a verbal argument between a mother and her adult son. Both were highly intoxicated. Police responded but found a verbal argument, not a physical issue.

Saturday, Aug. 3

1:03 a.m.: A woman reported abuse by her boyfriend. Police arrested Ryan M. Nelson, 33, of 17 DiVittorio Dr., Milford, on charges of domestic assault and battery and intimidating a witness.

1:46 a.m.: A caller said a man, possibly intoxicated, was laying on the ground on Reagan Road and Taft Street. An officer turned over the person to his parents.

8:24 a.m.: A caller on Central Street said his car window was smashed in.

9:36 a.m.: A caller on Senate Road said the passenger side window of his car was smashed, and his phone taken from the vehicle.

3:01 p.m.: A caller said she was constantly being harassed by a neighbor, who is constantly calling the cops on her.

3:30 p.m.: A caller reported a shopping cart from TJ Maxx was found on Clark's Island.

4:17 p.m.: A caller said she had allowed a woman to stay with her, but now the person is refusing to leave.

6:12 p.m.: A caller could hear gun shots in the area of Howard Street. Police could not locate the source of the noise.

10:22 p.m.: A caller at Dunkin Donuts on South Main Street said a large gathering of people was in front of the store, and it appeared people were attacking each other. An officer said they were making a movie.

Sunday, Aug. 4

12:59 a.m.: A caller asked police to check a house on University Drive. He said he heard a smashing of glass. Police checked but everything was OK.

1:04 a.m.: A Kia Sedona was repossessed on Redwood Drive.

2:25 a.m.: A caller said youths on foot were smashing mail boxes on Highland Street. Police also received reports from Littlefield Road, six reports in all.

3:00 a.m.: A Chevrolet Malibu was repossessed on Whitney Street.

3:45 a.m.: A caller said he could hear screams coming from Claflin Street. Police responded and filed a report.

8:15 a.m.: An officer said he was almost hit by a car, along with a few pedestrians, on Main Street near Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. The officer issued a citation to the driver.

8:45 a.m.: A caller on Diego Circle reported vandalism to her mailbox.

9:28 a.m.: A caller on University Drive reported vandalism to a mailbox.

9:39 a.m.: A caller on University Drive reported vandalism to a mailbox.

12:41 p.m.: A caller said he had argued with his girlfriend, and wanted to speak to an officer about his rights.
