Police Log: Rollover Crash, Shoplifting

The following information was supplied by the Milford police department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The weekend police log includes a Saturday morning rollover crash,  a drunken-driving arrest, multiple reports of vandalism, shoplifting incidents and a criminal summons being sought following a noise complaint. 

Friday, Sept. 16 

3:13 p.m.: Following an incident at , police will seek a summons to charge Zuleika R. Carlos, 46, of 1 S. Free St., Milford, with shoplifting by concealing merchandise.

3:14 p.m.: One person was taken to the hospital after an accident at , 139 S. Main St. 

4:35 p.m.: A resident of Congress St. reported vandalism to the exterior of her home.

4:45 p.m.: Police responded to a two-car accident at Central and Depot streets in which no one was injured. 

5:14 p.m.: Police passed on a report that wires were down on Lawrence St. to National Grid. 

5:24 p.m. : A resident of Woodland Ave. reported vandalism to the window screens on his house. 

9:08 p.m.:  Police took a report from the owner of , who said a former employee stole money from her. 

Saturday, Sept. 17 

2:30 a.m.: Police assisted two people with rides home after their car was disabled on Spring Street.

4:24 a.m.: After a motor vehicle stop outside , police will seek a criminal summons to charge Justin Robert Marks, 26, of 95 Manville Rd., Woonsocket, RI, with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. 

8:02 a.m.: Police took a report of a hit-and-run accident that occurred sometime the night before on Main Street and left a resident with a damaged vehicle. 

8:35 a.m.: Police responded to an accident involving a motorcycle and a car at the intersection of Main and Pearl streets. No one was injured. 

10:22 a.m.: Police received multiple calls about a rollover accident at the intersection of Purchase and Wales streets. Officers arriving found a grey Toyota Camry on its roof and a utility pole snapped. The driver was taken by ambulance to . 

11:40 a.m.: Police assisted the fire department in responding to a call from Mechanic St., where a burnt cigarette caused a smoldering fire in a bed of mulch near a house. 

11:42 a.m: Officers checked the area around the on E. Main Street after a manager said an apparently intoxicated person left the bank and drove away in a car with two children. No vehicle matching the description given was found. 

2:40 p.m.: An officer responded to , where a manager was dealing with two people who had attempted to shoplift from the store and were causing a disturbance in the parking lot. 

2:55 p.m.: A walk-in reported possible fraud to police, saying her ex-boyfriend was using her credit card without authorization. 

4:11 p.m.: An officer restored peace at a yard sale on Grove Street, where he was sent after a dispute arose. 

6:34 p.m.: A walk-in to the police station reported that her friend had stolen her dog. 

8:43 p.m.: Police responded to a two-car accident at the Cedar Street on-ramp to I-495 North that did not involve any injuries. 

10:49 p.m.: Police received a call of a possible missing person from Altieri Court. Milford Regional Medical Center was notified in case the person arrived there, but in the meantime, an officer found the man in question at and transported him home. 

10:43 p.m: After a single-car accident was reported at Main and Bow streets, police arrested Oscar Guallpa-Yuvi, 22, of 1431 Ocean St., Marshfield, on a charge of operating under the influence of liquor.  

Sunday, Sept. 18 

1:49 a.m.: A noise complaint came in from Congress Street, where a resident said a neighbor's dog persistently barks when the resident is not home. An officer advised the complaining party of his rights to contact the animal control officer. 

2:22 a.m.: A walk-in to the police station reported being threatened by an unknown person at . 

10:12 a.m.: After investigating a noise complaint about loud music, police will seek a summons to charge James. H. Wieland, 42, of 8 Shadowbrook Ln., Apt. 42, Milford, with disturbing the peace. 

10:40 a.m.: A caller reported their car had been struck by a hit-and-run driver sometime the night before while it was parked outside the. 

11:05 a.m.: Police responded to a report of a shoplifting at , where they arrested James O. Steele, 22, of 20 Box Pond Rd., Bellingham, on charges of larceny over $250 and larceny from a building. 

11:47 a.m.: A walk-in to the police department reported that someone was harassing her by making phone calls from her cell phone without authorization.
