Police Log: Officers Respond to Report of Dogs Left in Car on Green Street

The following information was provided by the Milford Police Department. Where arrests are mentioned, they do not indicate conviction.

Monday, April 7

At 12:40 a.m., Milford Police received a report of individuals being loud outside a building on Colonial Road. Officers responded and checked the area but found no one on the road and all to be quiet.

At 7:06 a.m., police responded to the area of Memorial Elementary School on Walnut Street on a report of a suspicious motor vehicle. The vehicle had been spotted propped on car jacks in the parking lot, and the owner was advised that he had one day to move the car. Police then cited the driver for trespassing with a motor vehicle.

At 11:26 a.m., police responded to Milford High School on a report of vandalism to a vehicle in the parking lot. Upon arrival officers determined that the damage was caused by a minor accident in which one vehicle rolled into another; no drivers were involved, according to police records.

At 12:19 p.m., police responded to the First Unitarian Church of Milford on Pine Street on a report of an accident. A vehicle reportedly struck a sign in the area of the church's driveway. No damage was reported, but the Milford Highway Department was notified that a bolt came loose from the sign.

At 1:05 p.m., police responded to a report that several dogs had been left in a vehicle outside a residence on Green Street.

At 3:18 p.m., a man walked into the Milford Police Department to report that checks received from the company he works for had bounced from the same subject. Police issued a summons to Matthew Medeiros, 33, of Milford, on charges of larceny by check of more than $250.

At 3:29 p.m., police responded to a Grove Street residence, where a person reported seeing a group of youths trespass inside an abandoned home. Officers reported that a squatter may have been on the property but no one was present upon arrival.

At 3:38 p.m., police responded to a report of a two-car accident near Wendy's on Cedar Street. No injuries were reported.

At 4:46 p.m., police received a report that a black BMX bike had been stolen while the owner was inside Kmart on Medway Road.

At 5:23 p.m., police responded to a one-car accident near the Doubletree by HIlton hotel on Beaver Street. No injuries were reported, and a no-parking sign had been knocked down.

At 5:32 p.m., police received a report of a two-car accident in the area of South Bow Street. No injuries were reported.

At 8:28 p.m., police received a report that a car hit a dog near the Main Street Market. The dog reportedly rose and walked away from the scene prior to police arrival.
