Police Log: October Snowstorm, More Noise

The snowstorm that arrived Saturday night and lasted into Sunday produced dozens of calls to the emergency dispatch in Milford for police or fire department assistance. Officers also responded to several Milford residences after receiving complaints of noise.

Friday, Oct. 28

11:10 p.m.: Police received a report of loud noise on Congress Street. The person said he would “keep it down.”

Saturday, Oct. 29

12:27 a.m.: A caller reported a  parked car was hit in the parking lot of.

12:29 a.m.: A caller on Senate Road told police a group of males was being loud, and they possibly were fighting. Police arrested Jose Samuel Torres, 18, of 286 Hartford Ave., Apt. 5, Providence, RI, on charges of disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace.

1:23 a.m.: A police officer on Central Street received a report of a “male party chasing another male with a club.” The men could not be located.

2:10 a.m.: A police officer requested sanding for Beach at East Main Streets, after encountering slick road conditions.

3:46 a.m.: Police took a 23-year-old man into protective custody after receiving a report of an intoxicated person on Luby Avenue.

7:17 a.m.: A man reported that he took a shower at his East Main Street apartment, and when he came out, his wallet was missing.

11:34 a.m.: A caller told police he was cleaning out his deceased wife’s home on South Bow Street and discovered that several of her things were missing.

12:16 p.m.: A two-vehicle collision was reported on East Main Street. No injuries were involved.

12:49 p.m.: A mail carrier walked in to police headquarters to report she had found a wallet in the mail drop off on Spruce Street.

12:52 p.m.: The mail carrier reported finding a wallet at the drop off box on Water Street.

1:07 p.m.: The mail carrier stated she had found another wallet in the West Street box. The police narrative indicates a total of four wallets were found in the mail drop offs.

2:06 p.m.: A caller reported an “open trench” on Whip o Will Lane and said it was a hazard, and that the contractor had been gone for two hours.

3:59 p.m.: A caller on East Main Street told police a landlord at the location was “assaulting a female tenant.” The narrative indicates the assault was not witnessed by the caller, but that he “hears screaming and items being broken.” The woman tenant was “given her rights and left on her own,” the responding officer stated.

5:26 p.m.: A patrol officer reported that Highland Street needed to be sanded. Highway Department was responding.

7:05 p.m.: A report of a possible blown transformer was received on Purdue Drive.

7:44 p.m.: A tree was reported to be hanging over the road on Western Avenue.

7:45 p.m.: A caller reported two wires down on Elizabeth Road. The wires were cable wires, not electrical lines.

7:52 p.m.: Police dispatch received numerous calls for “power outages in the area” as well as an explosion of a transformer.

7:59 p.m.: A tree limb was reported across the road on Whitewood Road.

10:20 p.m.: Wires and a tree were reported down, across the road, on Tanglewood Drive.

9:21 p.m.: A disturbance was reported on Baker Slip. It was “a dispute between several males. One is throwing furniture and has struck other people,” the caller stated. Police found “no fight” at the location and advised all parties to keep the noise down.

9:42 p.m.: A branch was reported down on wires on Whitewood Road. The wire was a cable wire, not an electrical wire.

10:45 p.m.: A tree was reported down at the on Medway Road. Police determined the tree had fallen in the town of Medway.

11:49 p.m.: Two people were seen fighting on Purchase Street. Police took a 33-year-old woman to an address on East Main Street, after determining it was a verbal fight only, not physical.

Sunday, Oct. 30

12:42 a.m.: A caller reported seeing a car into a telephone pole on Purchase Street. No injuries were reported.

2:04 a.m.: Wires were reported down on Princeton Drive.

2:05 a.m.: Loud music was reported on Exchange Street. An officer checked three adjacent buildings and could not find any music.

2:09 a.m.: Wires were reported down on Venice Street.

2:13 a.m.: Wires were reported down on Roland Way.

2:25 a.m.: Wires were reported down on Taft Street.

2:52 a.m.: A person walked in to report wires down on Columbus Avenue.

3:03 a.m.: A noise complaint came in about a loud party on the third floor of a Main Street building. An officer responded and said “this is the second warning and if the PD is called back again they will be charged with a disorderly house.”

3:43 a.m.: Wires were reported down on Hancock Street.

4:08 a.m.: Wires were reported down on Highland Street.

4:18 a.m.: Wires were reported down on Highland Street, again.

4:27 a.m.: Wires were reported down on Rogers Street.

5:15 a.m.: Wires were reported down on High Street.

5:45 a.m.: Several cars were towed on Forest Street to allow snow removal. An officer said no one at the address was responding to numerous attempts to ring the bell and alert them.

6:08 a.m.: A tree was reported to be on fire at Muriel Lane and Lynn Lane. Firefighters who responded found the wire had burned out.

7:49 a.m.: Wires were reported down on Blanchard Road, across a homeowner’s driveway. Firefighters who responded reported that the road was icy, and Highway Department was responding.

8:07 a.m.: A tree was reported down across wires on Stoneybrook Lane.

8:15 a.m.: A wire was arching in the road on North Vine Street.

8:23 a.m.: A caller on Highland Street told police his power was out and his oxygen system would not work. He was taken to

8:35 a.m.: A caller reported a tree limb down on top of a wire, and also down on top of her car, on Yale Drive.

9:08 a.m.: A caller on Tanglewood Drive reported a tree limb down and another hanging above the road.

9:30 a.m.: Wires were reported down on Purchase Street.

9:41 a.m.: Wires were reported down on Princeton Drive. The wires, taken down by a tree, were cable wires.

9:54 a.m.: A caller reported a wire down on Hunter Circle.

10:09 a.m.: A tree was in the road on Cedar Street, near the Hopkinton line.

10:19 a.m.: A pole was reported to be leaning over the road on Cedar Street.

10:35 a.m.: Wires were reported down on Forest Street.

10:36 a.m.: A caller asked for a well-being check on her mother, who did not come out from her Capitol Road apartment despite the fact that the caller’s husband on the property shoveling. The caller reported the car was there. Police determined the woman was OK, that she hadn’t heard the door buzzer because power was out.

10:40 a.m.: A caller reported branches on wires on Whitewood Road.

10:53 a.m.: Wires were reported down on Fruit Street.

11:29 a.m.: A caller told police he was receiving threats from a woman. Police are seeking a summons to charge Kimberly Peterson, 24, of 6 Forest St., Medway, with threatening to commit a crime.

11:53 a.m.: Wires were reported down on Joan Circle.

12:38 p.m.: A tree branch was reported to be on fire on Harvard Drive. The branch was on top of electrical wires. Firefighters responded.
