Police Log: Man Summonsed for Alleged Use of Counterfeit Money at Charlie’s

Friday, April 18

At 9:31 a.m., Milford Police received a report from the Milford National Bank and Trust on South Main Street that a suspicious-looking vehicle had been parked at the bank's parking lot for several weeks. Police contacted the vehicle's owner and asked that it be moved.

At 9:34 a.m., police received a report of an erratic driver in the area of Fortune Boulevard and East Main Street, after someone observed a red and white jeep with "granger" written on the side crossing the double-yellow lines; the driver was believed to have been texting at the time.

At 10:43 a.m., police responded to a report of a two-car accident in the area of Main and Congress streets.

At 10:55 a.m., a customer at Target reported to police that while loading her child into her vehicle, her shopping cart was stolen with items still inside. Security viewed surveillance footage and determined that the carriage wasn't stolen, but had been blown by the wind down the parking lot and the items were still inside.

At 11:24 a.m., police received a request for a well-being check on Prospect Street, where a representative from a national agency for missing children was looking to see if a woman who went missing in 2000 was there; police responded and found no one home at the location.

At 11:45 a.m., a man walked into the Milford Police Department to report he received a phone call from someone claiming to be from the Mexico City Embassy, stating the man's nephew was in jail and he needed to send $3,000 in cash.

At 4:59 p.m., police received a call from the Upton Police Department, which reported that a vehicle was all over the road, the female driver possibly texting while driving, in the area of West Street.

At 5:59 p.m., police received a report that a tire was in the roadway on Beaver Street near Burger King. Police responded and also located a pothole near the restaurant's entrance, and contacted the Milford Highway Department to look at the matter.

At 6:54 p.m., police received a report that a group of people had been fishing in Louisa Lake on Dilla Street. Police responded and spoke to one person found fishing in the area.

Saturday, April 19

At 10:05 a.m., police received a report that a man and a woman were trying to access cars in the area of CVS on South Main Street. The man was described as a white male wearing jeans and a white-and-blue sweatshirt. The woman was described as having pink hair. The two allegedly tried to pick up other individuals' prescription and were reportedly panhandling at the business. Police responded and spoke to the two and sent them on their way.

At 11:52 a.m., police were flagged down by a civilian in the area of Target, where the individual said a man in the parking lot was taking photos of people.

At 2:07 p.m., police responded to a report of a two-car accident in the area of Valero on East Main Street. No injuries were reported.

At 3:29 p.m., police received a report that a man described as a 5-foot, 3-inch black male wearing a baseball cap, long chain, navy shirt and jeans and having tattoos on his arm, attempted to pass a counterfeit $20 at Charlie's Mini Mart before leaving on foot on Spruce Street. Officers responded and checked the area and subsequently issued a summons to Darren Jones, 20, of Milford for possession of a counterfeit note.

At 9:31 p.m., a manager of Shaw's on Prospect Street reported a man wearing a green shirt walked into the store with two young children; the man appeared to be highly intoxicated, the manager told police, and was asked to leave.

At 10:39 p.m., police received a report from an individual at CVS on South Main Street who said she had found the hood of her vehicle open several nights the previous week after leaving work.
