Police Log: Man Being Followed, Landlord Yelling over Parked Cars, Silly String Vandalism

The following information was provided by the Milford Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Sunday, July 14

12:07 a.m.: A complaint came in about loud music on Alfred Road. An officer spoke to everyone involved, and the music was shut off.

1:22 a.m.: An officer was flagged down by someone on Sumner Street, who said a man was possibly trying to get into vehicles. The man had observed a man with a white T-shirt trying to break into his vehicle. He recovered a tool box near the vehicle. The car was locked so the man didn't get inside.

1:40 a.m.: Police responded to Jefferson Street, where a woman had said her son was getting robbed and beaten up. She hung up. Officers who responded found no signs of forced entry and uncooperative victims.

1:42 a.m.: A clerk from CVS on South Main Street said two kids were in the store who were not supposed to be there. They left heading toward the hospital. 

2:48 a.m.: A caller reported a neighbor on Lincoln Street was playing loud music. Police spoke to the person.

3:45 a.m.: A man called police and said another man had started a fight between him, his sister and his girlfriend. Police responded and arrested Bryan Kennedy, 38, of 15 Julian Lane, Milford, on two counts of domestic assault and battery and a warrant.

7:28 a.m.: A man was reported to be sleeping on a bench outside Midas. Police checked and he was OK.

8:13 a.m.: A woman told police that a man had been escorted out of their house the previous night by police, but had come back at some point and crawled through a basement window to enter again.

12:51 p.m.: A man reported his neighbor possibly struck his vehicle on Central Street. Police filed a report.

1:02 p.m.: A caller said kids who were skateboarding in the area were causing a disturbance with people walking in the area.

3:30 p.m.: A brush fire was reported off I-495 northbound between Route 85 and West Main Street in Hopkinton. Hopkinton Fire Department responded. State Police then reported two more brush fires north of that location.

3:35 p.m.: A caller said a man in his 50s was walking down Depot Street, and a small black station wagon was following him. The man was trying to brush them off, but the vehicle kept following. The caller asked police to check on the well-being of the walking man. Police could not locate him.

5:36 p.m.: A woman on Pheasant Circle said her 9-year-old son had been assaulted by a neighbor. The neighbor was swearing and had attempted to drag the boy into the pool with a pool raft. Police responded, and spoke to everyone. There was no assault, police determined, instead, it was just play. Police did tell the adult in the pool to calm down.

6:06 p.m.: A woman reported a man was laying in a yard on Grove Street, possibly intoxicated. He was wearing striped shorts, no shirt. Police responded and requested an ambulance. The man was taken to Milford Regional Medical Center.

6:11 p.m.: Police responded to Haven Street, where two women and a man were outside yelling. Police spoke to everyone and reported no problems.

7:49 p.m.: A caller said a landlord to the building on the corner of North Bow Street was yelling at her due to cars being parked on his property. Police spoke to everyone involved.

9:07 p.m.: Security at Milford Regional Medical Center said they had a report of a man standing in the entrance, yelling for help as cars went by. Police found his vehicle had run out of gas. It was pushed to the parking lot. No other disturbance was found.

Monday, July 15

6:53 a.m.: Several calls came in about a crash on Purchase Street, at Fountain Street. A woman on Purchase Street said a driver in a Nissan Altima had run over her hedges and was now parked in her front yard. Police filed a report.

6:54 a.m.: A homeowner on Eben Street said his yard had been TP'd for the third time. Police plan extra patrols.

8:22 a.m.: A caller on Beaver Street said his house was vandalized overnight. The yard was TP'd, his trash was thrown all over the street and his wife's car had Silly String all over it. He asked for extra patrols.

11:54 a.m.: A crash was reported on East Main Street. Police are seeking a summons to charge Joaquin A. DeCastro, 30, of 17 Grove St., Milford, with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and failure to stop or yield.
