Police Log: Kids Throwing Eggs at Middle School East Building, Thefts from Cars

The following information was provided by the Milford Police Department. When arrests are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Thursday, Oct. 31

7:13 a.m.: A caller near the Milford Senior Center said a 13- or 14-year-old boy was possibly in distress. The school bus drove off without him and he appeared to be crying. An officer found him and said he was upset because he had argued with his father over a phone.

7:40 a.m.: Police responded to La Quinta Inn and arrested Tara Anne Henry, 22, of 68 High St., Apt. 4, Auburn, Maine, on a fugitive from justice warrant.

9:49 a.m.: A man walked in to police headquarters and said he was being followed by his ex-girlfriend's friend.

10:01 a.m.: A man walked in and reported that items had been stolen from a cemetery. The cemetery was not identified in the police narrative.

12:25 p.m.: Firefighters responded to the Vietnam Trails area off Cedar Street for a brush fire detail.

12:54 p.m.: A caller on Highland Street said change was stolen from his car.

1:02 p.m.: A caller on Glennon Drive said his car had been broken into and CDs were stolen. He said he keeps the door locked. It happened after 2 a.m.

1:48 p.m.: A caller reported that a car had had items stolen from it, sometime overnight, on Fells Avenue. A small amount of change was taken.

2:55 p.m.: An employee of Milford Highway Department said he found a bunch of credit cards on Robin Road.

3:28 p.m.: The state Department of Children and Families said they had received a call from someone at Target, reporting that the driver of a Honda Civic had struck her 2-year-old daughter several times. Police responded to the address. The woman later came into the police station and spoke to police, who reported the children were fine.

4:12 p.m.: A two-car crash was reported near Pizza Chef on Main Street. Police are seeking a summons to charge Ione Mendes, 39, of 31 Pleasant St., Apt. 1, Milford, with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

4:44 p.m.: A woman who lives on Grove Street said someone broke into her car overnight and took her belongings, including some medications.

4:49 p.m.: A two-car crash was reported at Hannaford Supermarket. An officer gave a woman, her son, and the dog a ride home.

5:34 p.m.: A disturbance was reported on Highland Street. A caller said he could hear a man yelling.

6:51 p.m.: A caller on Water Street complained that people were speeding and he was concerned due to the trick-or-treaters. An officer in the area said he only saw cars slowing down to look at the decorated house.

7:30 p.m.: A woman on Cornell Drive said an older child was being physically aggressive with other children. Police spoke to the child.

8:27 a.m.: A hit-and-run was reported on Birch Street. A driver said he was struck from behind, which caused him to crash into a stone wall. The other vehicle then fled.

8:49 p.m.: A caller reported loud music on Luby Avenue. Police could not find the noise.

9:17 p.m.: A caller on South Main Street said two people were knocking on her door, a man and a woman. Police could not locate the pair.

9:40 p.m.: A caller reported that kids were throwing eggs at windows on the Winter Street side of the Middle School East building, near the gym. An officer spoke to them.

11:54 p.m.: A caller said she could hear a child screaming in the area of Hamilton Street. Several officers were investigating.

Friday, Nov. 1

3:22 a.m.: A caller said a driver was all over the road, and had pulled into the McDonald's drive-thru on South Main Street. An officer checked and the driver was not impaired.

8:07 a.m.: A caller at Milford High School reported a theft from a motor vehicle.

10:53 a.m.: A caller near Sports Authority said a man was working in the road on a manhole cover and she was concerned for his safety. Police responded but he was gone.

11:14 a.m.: A caller at Bill's Pizza on Main Street said a cell phone had been stolen from the counter. The thief was 6' tall, aged 20 to 25. An officer was checking the area.

1:14 p.m.: Police received several calls reporting a car struck a tree on Medway Road at Birch Street. At least one person was taken to Milford Regional Medical Center.

1:41 p.m.: A caller on North Bow Street said she is a contractor with DCF and while doing a check of a home saw the woman's boyfriend, and he appeared to be taking narcotics. Police could not find him.

3:51 p.m.: A woman walked in to police headquarters and said she had a package that was purchased and never delivered. Her home is on Leonard Street.

4:19 p.m.: A man asked to speak to an officer. He said a man kept getting into a red Chevy at Target, then moving it to different areas of the parking lot. And he looked into a silver Ford several times. Police spoke to him and he checked out OK. He was waiting for his wife.

4:30 p.m.: A caller on Dana Circle said his home was for sale and someone had gone through the house. All of the cabinets were opened. Police were investigating.

4:31 p.m.: Two officers were sent to Milford High School to enforce the new parking restrictions.

5:00 p.m.: A detective responded to Target to help Holliston Police on a past report of larceny. Police are seeking a summons to charge Tyler Joseph Bergin, 27, of 217 Main St., Apt. 2, Wayland, with five counts of larceny over $250 by false pretense, with one count of larceny under $250 by false pretense, and two counts of receiving stolen property more than $250.
