Police Log: Kids Throwing Debris Against a House, Thefts from Cars

The following information was provided by the Milford Police Department. All arrests are reported. Charges do not indicate a conviction.

Sunday, June 30

6:20 p.m.: A woman reported her car was hit in the parking lot of Shaw's Supermarket. The other driver left.

6:32 p.m.: A woman reported she left her small red and green leather purse at the Dunkin Donuts on Main Street. She asked police to call if it is found.

6:45 p.m.: A caller asked to speak to an officer about theft of a purse at Dunkin Donuts on Main Street.

7:02 p.m.: A man reported he had just been involved in a dispute while taking his child to the mother. He said a man at the residence came out and starting hitting his car and screaming threats. Police are seeking a court summons to charge Edward L. Alberto, 44, of 90 Water St., Milford, with assault and threatening to commit a crime.

7:11 p.m.: A caller asked to speak to an officer about a noise problem on Sumner Street, at a home where there is nonstop banging.

7:56 p.m.: State Police reported a crash on I-495 north involving a rollover, with injury. Bellingham Fire Department responded.

8:13 p.m.: A man walked in to police headquarters and reported the theft of a bike at Casey Memorial Pool.

8:29 p.m.: A caller on Parkhurst Street reported loud music from Hayward Street.

9:18 p.m.: A caller said a silver Audi was driving erratically on Water Street. It passed three other cars. Police could not locate it.

9:22 p.m.: A caller said two motorcycles were speeding up and down Central Street. Police responded but the motorcycles were gone.

10:03 p.m.: A car was all over the road on Beaver Street at Medway Road, a caller said. Police contacted State Police.

10:30 p.m.: A caller on Dogwood Lane said someone was in a workshop. The caller said it might have been an animal and that everything appeared OK.

10:32 p.m.: A caller on Correia Circle said a group of kids in Prospect Heights Park were throwing things against his house. Police responded but the kids were gone. An officer said debris and trash were in the field. The caller was told to call again if he heard anything. Police will now conduct daily checks of the area.

11:29 p.m.: A caller reported a car had struck a telephone pole on Purchase Street, at Ivy Lane. The pole was split in half and wires were pulled down. Officers responded. An ambulance was dispatched.

Monday, July 1

6:00 a.m.: A caller on Fruit Street said someone had broken into his car and stolen money.

7:46 a.m.: State Police reported a two-car rollover with injury on I-495 North. Bellingham also responded. 

7:52 a.m.: A caller on Churchill Street said her car was hit sometime overnight.

7:55 a.m.: A caller said a pickup truck was parked near a manhole cover on Fortune Boulevard. The truck had no markings. Police responded. It was a Milford Water Company truck.

1:04 p.m.: A caller said someone had stolen $50 from her car, on Jefferson Street. Police are seeking a summons to charge Sarah E. Mandell, 21, of 40 Jefferson St., Apt. 5, Milford, with larceny under $250.

1:16 p.m.: A child fell inside Target and had a face laceration. An ambulance responded but the parent declined a transport to the hospital.

3:45 p.m.: A man reported someone had stolen a video game system from a car at McDonald's on South Main Street.

6:09 p.m.: A caller reported it sounded like someone was screaming at a home on Sidney Road. Several other calls came in, also reporting a woman screaming. Police responded and said the woman was on the phone, talking loudly.
