Police Log: Girls Harassing Library Visitors, Woman Yelling at Elderly Woman

The following information was provided by the Milford Police Department. When arrests are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Wednesday, Nov. 6

3:10 p.m.: Police responded to Woodland Elementary School for a dispute between a parent and a student.

3:55 p.m.: An officer checked on a man in shorts and sneakers with a black hat, near the quarry by Shadowbrook Condominiums.

3:57 p.m.: A caller reported her iPad had been stolen from out of her car, on Simon Drive.

4:49 p.m.: A caller at Milford Town Library asked police to remove four "young ladies" who were in front of the library, harassing people.

4:58 p.m.: An officer stopped a BMW on West Spruce Street. Police were seeking a summons to charge Fernando C. Candido, 31, of 94 Spruce St., Apt. 2, Milford, with allowing improper operation of a motor vehicle. Police are seeking a summons to charge Dione F. DaSilva, 31, of 94 Spruce St., Apt. 2, Milford, with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and speeding.

6:19 p.m.: An officer pulled over a Honda Civic on Water Street. Police arrested Luan Ferrarez Dos Santos, 23, of 78 S. Bow St., Apt. 1, Milford, and charged him with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, speeding and following too closely.

6:26 p.m.: A caller reported possible elder abuse at Big Lots. She said she saw a woman yelling obscenities at an elderly woman she was with. When the caller tried to intervene, the agitated woman started threatening her and told her to mind her own business.

6:48 p.m.: A caller reported a loud noise coming from behind Planet Fitness. An officer responded but found no noise violation.

Thursday, Nov. 7

12:27 a.m.: A Chevrolet Cobalt was repossessed on East Street.

9:35 a.m.: A caller reported suspicious activity. She said two men got out of a car and carried something into the woods on Countryside Drive. Police responded and determined the man was carrying a stand and bow and arrow, for hunting.

10:27 a.m.: A theft by check was reported at Campos Detailing.

12:36 p.m.: An adult shoplifter was being detained at Hannaford Supermarket.

1:36 p.m.: A caller reported suspicious people carrying lots of money and the smell of marijuana coming from two rooms at La Quinta Inn. An officer responded and said all parties had been asked to leave the property, and did so.

5:43 p.m.: A theft from a motor vehicle was reported on Alden Street. Cash, change and a knife were stolen. The theft happened overnight.

6:44 p.m.: A caller at Pizza Chef asked for police help with an unruly customer. Police responded and asked two people to leave. They did.

7:16 p.m.: A security officer at Milford Regional Medical Center asked for help in the H-lot. A patient had left the hospital and the security officer had him detained. Police responded but the man was back inside the hospital.

8:55 p.m.: A disturbance was reported by State Police, who said a man on West Walnut Street was making obscene comments in phone calls to that agency.

9:24 p.m.: State Police called back again about the man on West Walnut Street, who they said had called nine times since Milford police spoke to him. He was incoherent. Police went back out and talked to him again.

Friday, Nov. 8

2:54 a.m.: A man said his medication and money had been stolen from him at a friend's house. The officer who responded said the man could not remember what house he was in. Police spoke to him.

1:36 p.m.: An officer asked for backup officers at Custom Creations on Main Street, to help make an arrest. Jose A. Sanchez, 34, of 3 Overlea Ave., Milford, was arrested on charges of disturbing the peace and disorderly conduct.
