Police Log: Texting, OUI Arrest, Unruly Girls

The following information was supplied by the Milford police department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Milford police responded to numerous complaints and incidents involving young people, according to the weekend dispatch log. Among other things, youth were seen urinating in public, climbing up on to park structures and driving around in a local parking lot, yelling at people. Police also made several arrests, including of a 27-year-old woman who is accused of operating under the influence, and texting.

Friday, Oct. 14

3:56 p.m.: A caller reported a man with an open container just left the parking area of on South Main Street. The man took a right on Route 140. Police were unable to located the vehicle.

4:44 p.m.: A caller from Purchase Street told police a Jeep Liberty had just gone off the road and was on the front lawn of a Purchase Street address. No injuries were reported.

5:28 p.m.: A caller told police kids had climbed on to the roof of the bandstand in . When police arrived, the youths were in the dugout. The officer spoke to them.

6:09 p.m.: A caller told police her wallet had been stolen out of her locked car when it was parked behind the post office. She called back to tell police she had found her wallet, in her home.

6:22 p.m.: A caller reported a shoplifter at .

6:50 p.m.: A man left without his doctor’s permission, and his family was worried he was physically and mentally unstable. After a “Be on the Lookout” was issued, Mendon Police called and said they had found him.

7:06 p.m.: A man walked in to police headquarters to speak to an officer about a former employee of now harassing another employee.

7:53 p.m.: A caller asked for a well-being check on a woman who had called previously crying, and appeared to be very upset. Police checked and determined she was fine.

8:15 p.m.: Police and firefighters responded to a report of a 17-year-old who was passing out repeatedly at on Main Street.

8:30 p.m.: A man asked an officer to help with a disturbance on Main Street, as another male was demanding money he owed him.

8:52 p.m.: The parents of an 11-year-old girl walked in to police headquarters to report bullying at a school event at

9:04 p.m.: A caller on East Walnut Street told police his young, female neighbor has been “outside yelllng and threatening someone” on the phone for several minutes. Police were unable to locate the young female.

10:10 p.m.: A woman told police she had been shoved into a bush by a man, who is “intoxicated and is refusing to leave.” Police arrived and arrested Matthew S. Connors, 30, of 18 Lena Lane, Milford, on a charge of domestic assault and battery.

10:41 p.m.: A two-car crash with no injuries was reported on Cape Road.

11:13 p.m.: A two-car collision was reported on Princess Pine Lane. A caller reported a car had run over the trashcans, a recycling bin and then hit a parked car on the other side of the road.

Saturday, Oct. 15

1:02 a.m.: A noise complaint was received about . Police checked and determined all was fine.

2:12 a.m.: A motorist near on South Main Street reported that a man in the parking lot had been possibly punched, in a scrape involving two men. The police were unable to locate the men.

5:35 a.m.: A caller from on Main Street reported finding a syringe in the trash.

10:37 a.m.: An animal cruelty complaint was received about a dog in the parking lot of . The animal control officer checked with the owner and the dog and determined the dog was fine.

12:21 p.m.: An abandoned bicycle was found on Birmingham Court and turned in to the police department.

2:20 p.m.: Police received a request for extra patrols of Hayward Street to make sure barrels concealing open manholes have not been moved.

5:37 p.m.: A woman walked in to the police headquarters to report a stolen wallet and fraudulent use of credit cards. The theft occurred from a car, she reported, parked outside .

8:42 p.m.: Police responded to a report of a hit-and-run involving an older model Chrysler that had hit a parked car on Leonard Street, then left the scene. Police arrested Ashley M. Burns, 26, of 28 Depot St., Milford, on four counts of possession of a Class E drug and one count of possession of a Class B drug.

8:53 p.m.: A caller reported a breaking and entering attempt on Lee Street.

10:06 p.m.: An anonymous caller told police two men were looking into a dumpster outside a new home being built on Purchase Street at Haven Street.

10:20 p.m.: An anonymous caller reported seeing a Jeep crashing into a telephone pole on Fortune Boulevard at Cedar Street. No injuries were reported. Police were unable to find the vehicle.

10:25 p.m.: A caller told police someone in a white house on Water Street was outside “yelling and making noise.”

11:35 p.m.: Loud noise was reported to be coming from Claflin Street.

Sunday, Oct. 16

12:44 a.m.: Following a motor vehicle stop on Main at Pond streets, police arrested Emily Mary Kearnan, 27, of 27 Meade St., Apt. 1, Milford, on charges of operating under the influence of liquor, sending or reading text messages while operating a motor vehicle and a marked lanes violation.

12:50 a.m.: A driver reported seeing juveniles in the middle of Purchase Street, “crossing the road and urinating in the driveway.” The man told police he had almost hit one of them while he was trying to cross the street.

2:25 a.m.: A car was repossessed on South Main Street without incident.

3:28 a.m.: Firefighters responded to a report of a man, lying in the middle of Congress at West streets. The man was taken to Milford Regional Medical Center.

10:47 a.m.: A woman asked to speak to police about her 12-year-old daughter who she said “is not listening to her and is out of control.”

10:57 a.m.: A caller told police her car had been vandalized on South Bow Street by someone with a brick, which had been used to smash the window. The vandal, or vandals, also wrote derogatory words on the car.

12:16 p.m.: A caller told police three girls were sitting on top of the structures at the softball field. Police spoke to the girls.

2:12 p.m.: An erratic driver heading into Milford from Medway was observed driving “all over the road.” Police could not locate the vehicle.

2:43 p.m.: A man told police a pitbull terrier on Courtland Street had “tried to attack someone.” The animal control officer was notified.

3:47 p.m.: A caller told police a neighbor with a loud TV was making too much noise on Shadowbrook Lane.

6:16 p.m.: Police received a report from State Police of an erratic driver on Main Street. Police arrested Sheila M. Gavin, 50, of 304 Pond St., South Weymouth, on charges of operating under the influence of liquor, second offense, and possession of an open container of alcohol in motor vehicle.

6:57 p.m.: A woman walked in to police headquarters to ask for a modification of a restraining order, given ongoing issues with “her ex and his mother.”

7:07 p.m.: A caller from the area of on South Main Street told police a large group of youths were gathering in the parking lot and “are in about 10 to 15 cars” that were speeding in the lot, and yelling and swearing at passing cars.

7:09 p.m.: Police were asked to speak with a 13-year-old who was “out of control” after her mother had taken away her cell phone.
