Police Log: Doorway Nudity Complaint, Children Almost Hit by Truck

The following information was provided by the Milford Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Wednesday, Sept. 25

5:02 p.m.: A man walked in to police headquarters and reported his girlfriend's car was vandalized that morning, on Pearl Street. He asked to speak to an officer.

5:03 p.m.: An officer stopped a vehicle on Sumner Street, near John Smith Sports Center. Police arrested Manuel F. Lema, 40, of 45 Grove St., Apt. 2nd floor, Milford, on charges of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and motor vehicle not meeting RMV safety standards. The Ford Econovan was towed.

5:26 p.m.: A caller reported  a dark-colored minivan was stopped in the middle of Cedar Street, at I-495. An officer reported the vehicle had run out of gas. The operator was getting gas down the street.

7:46 p.m.: A caller reported hearing gun shots in the area of Purchase Street. An officer reported the shots were coming from Maspenock Rod and Gun Club, where members shoot until 9 p.m.

10:27 p.m.: A man in the station reported he had sold car parts to a person who was now demanding his money back, and threatening to harm him if he did not give him the money. An officer determined the dispute was through Facebook, and was civil in nature, not criminal. The officer spoke to the two people involved and reported he had mediated a solution.

Thursday, Sept. 26

4:42 a.m.: A caller on Mechanic Street reported she was awoken from a sound sleep by noise at Maine OXY, and said this was an ongoing issue. An officer was in the Maine OXY lot at that time, and said no noise was coming from the business.

5:05 a.m.: The woman on Mechanic Street said she could still hear a loud bang and it was keeping her awake. The noise, an officer reported, was coming from a trash truck emptying Dumpsters at an apartment complex on Sumner Street.

6:04 a.m.: A driver at B & P Trucking came in to police headquarters to speak with the police supervisor about the noise complaints, and possibly coming to the location at a later hour.

6:31 a.m.: A caller on Forest Street said a dog had been barking all morning. He asked a police officer to check it out.

8:10 a.m.: A person reported his vehicle had been broken into on West Street. He said he had the incident on videotape.

8:39 a.m.: A caller said her mother's neighbor was using her credit card to make purchases without her consent. An officer determined that this was a misunderstanding, and not a theft.

10:18 a.m.: A caller said she let her cousin borrow her car and two weeks later, hasn't seen the vehicle. Police spoke to her.

10:26 a.m.: Police received a report that a  man was looking into a house on Jionzo Road and running from deck to deck behind houses. Police arrested Shawn R. Lescoe, 32, of 98 E. Main St., Milford, on two outstanding warrants.

12:31 p.m.: A caller reported an elderly woman came into his yard, on Cornell Drive, and vandalized his flowers and his mailbox. An officer determined the mailbox was not damaged. He helped the man fix the flowers. The woman could not be located.

2:47 p.m.: A caller near Memorial Elementary School reported a possible fight in the area. About 30 people were in the area. Police responded found nothing amiss.

4:39 p.m.: A man reported another man was standing completely nude in his doorway, wearing only a mask. Police responded and could not find anything.

5:10 p.m.: An officer at Whitewood Road and Reservoir Road issued three warnings and five tickets. The area has a new stop sign.

5:13 p.m.: A man walked in to police headquarters and reported a stolen credit card had been used at Best Buy.

5:22 p.m.: A woman reported a lot of cut-through traffic on Roland Way, particularly in late afternoons. One truck drives erratically every day, she said. Today, several children had to jump out of the way to avoid it. She provided a plate number for a Ford F-350 to police.

5:35 p.m.: A caller said three teenagers were constantly ringing his doorbell, on Shadowbrook Lane, then running off. Police spoke to the man.
