Police Log: Car Strikes Motorcyclist at Water and Prospect Streets

The following information was supplied by the Milford police department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Editor's Note: the following police log was updated on Friday, Aug. 31 to reflect information in a police report on a crash involving a motorcyclist.

Wednesday, Aug. 29

6:14 p.m.: Police received several calls about a crash on Cedar Street, near Wendy's. Two vehicles were involved. No injury was reported.

8:36 p.m.: Police arrested Joshua Ryan Coburn, 22, of 9 Middleton St., Apt. 1/2, Milford, on a warrant.

10:41 p.m.: A caller reported spotting a man in her backyard on Beaver Street. Police checked the area, but did not find him.

Thursday, Aug. 30

1:19 a.m.: A caller reported a suspicious vehicle, a white SUV that was driving slowly, up and down the streets, on Congress Street and Paula Road. Police came across the vehicle but it was unoccupied. The owner said his daughter had the vehicle and he was going to go pick it up.

7:25 a.m.: Police responded to the bleachers at new track and field. Two males had taken off toward the tennis courts when police arrived.

8:46 a.m.: A woman reported the mother of her stepson is "refusing to bring him to school." Police spoke to the woman.

9:03 a.m.: A caller on Beaver Street reported hearing voices in her bedroom.

9:31 a.m.: A man walked in to police headquarters and reported that several items had been taken from his home, possibly by a roomate, including a diamond ring and some money.

12:20 p.m.: A caller reported a man hit a woman in a car parked at the state Police responded but could not locate the vehicle. The caller got a partial plate number.

12:33 p.m.: Police and firefighters responded to Water at Prospect streets, where a caller reported a vehicle ran a stop sign at the intersection, and hit a motorcyclist, who had a female passenger on back. Arriving firefighters advised two people were on the ground "not moving." Two ambulances responded. One ambulance took the 58-year-old woman passenger to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. The motorcycle driver, a 48-year-old man, was not transported to a hospital. A police report indicates the driver of the Jeep Compass struck the motorcyclist, who was southbound on Prospect Street, after failing to yield to his right-of-way. She was traveling from Water Street across the intersection. The woman driving the Jeep was not injured. She was cited for failing to use care and caution at an intersection and failure to yield the right-of-way.

12:56 p.m.: A caller reported a man on Pearl Street was "banging on his back door." Police found the man and spoke to him.

2:29 p.m.: A caller reported a flower bed was stolen from outside the restaurant.

2:40 p.m.: A caller said a car was stolen from the BP lot on Prospect Street overnight. An officer reported back that an employee might have taken the vehicle. If the vehicle was stolen, the owner agreed to come to the station and file a report.

3:00 p.m.: A crash between a Honda Accord and a Verizon truck was reported on Dilla Street, near Two people were taken to

3:18 p.m.: A woman reported that while shopping at the plaza and at the store that day, she had lost an antique diamond and silver engagement ring. She asked to be called if the ring was turned in.

3:37 p.m.: A caller on Grove Street reported someone was playing an electric guitar outside.
