Police Log: Car Fires, Vandalism

The following information was supplied by the Milford police department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Wednesday, Aug. 22

5:05 p.m.: A caller reported her car was on fire at . The Chevrolet Impala was not near a building or another vehicle. When firefighters arrived, it was fully engulfed. Firefighters extinguished it.

6:03 p.m.: A caller on University Drive reported his car was on fire, and flames were coming from the engine. Firefighters responded and extinguished it. The car was in the man's driveway.

6:33 p.m.: A woman walked in to police headquarters and asked to speak to an officer about threats made by the father of her child. The woman was advised of a right to obtain an emergency restraining order.

7:04 p.m.: A caller from said she was having vehicles towed from the lot. An officer assisted her in getting the registered owners to remove the vehicles. No tows were required.

8:47 p.m.: Following a motor vehicle stop on South Main at Main streets, police arrested Jaime M. Mainato, 27, of 28 Water St., Apt. 1, Milford, on a charge of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.

9:53 p.m.: A caller reported someone was setting off fireworks on North Pond Terrace. Police checked and everything was OK.

Thursday, Aug. 23

12:28 a.m.: A caller reported a loud party on Purdue Drive. Police spoke to the person responsible.

12:34 a.m.: An officer took two 14-year-old boys home to their parents on Haven Street.

7:45 a.m.: A woman reported the window on her Kia was smashed in on Colonial Road.

7:51 a.m.: A woman reported her vehicle wires, under the dashboard, were cut on Emmons Street.

12:21 p.m.: A woman reported newspapers were stolen from

1:47 p.m.: Police arrested Michael Joseph Chapman, 23, of 90 Water St., Milford, on three warrants.
