Police Log: Blown Transformer Causes Power Outage on School Street

The following information was provided by the Milford Police Department. Where arrests are mentioned, they do not indicate conviction.

Friday, May 16

At 12:53 a.m., Milford Police received a report of an erratic driver in the area of East Main Street, after a vehicle crossed the marked lanes on the road. The driver headed into Hopedale, and Hopedale police were notified. 

At 1:03 a.m., police received a report of a power outage in the School Street area. Officers contacted National Grid regarding the outage, which was affecting the area of School Street up to Congress Street. Upon investigation, police found that a transformer on School Street had blown out, causing the outage.

At 7:59 a.m., police received a report of a small mulch fire on a traffic island near D'Angelo's on South Main Street. 

At 11:39 a.m., an employee at Auto Zone on East Main Street reported that he found a counterfeit bill in the parking lot of the business.

At 3:38 p.m., police received a report of a two-car motor vehicle accident in the area of East Main and Beach streets. 

At 4:48 p.m., police received a report of an erratic driver in the area of Cedar Street and Fortune Boulevard. The vehicle was described as a gray minivan with a bumper sticker and was seen driving in and out of traffic. 

At 5:25 p.m., police responded to a two-car accident in the area of K-Mart on Medway Road involving a gray sedan and a blue SUV. No injuries were reported, and police issued a summons to Maria De Oliveira, 40, of Milford for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and failure to yield at an intersection. 

At 5:35 p.m., police pulled a vehicle over in the area of Congress and Fayette streets, where they arrested Rumaldo Tacuri, 33, of Milford, for operating a vehicle with a suspended license (subsequent offense), and driving without possession of a license. 

At 5:47 p.m., police responded to the area of I-495 northbound, near the Maple Street overpass, on a report of a multiple-car accident with three reported injuries.
