Police Log: Ball Player Hits Fence, Blue Sapphire Mailed to Police

Milford Police responded to several emergencies overnight, including a report of a ball player injured at Votolato Field while playing ball. The department, meanwhile, received an unusual mailing: an anonymous envelope containing what appeared to be a gold ring with blue sapphire and diamonds.

Thursday, May 3

2:28 p.m.: Police responded to a report of a fight among youth at

3:23 p.m.: A man complained that his car had received minor damages, outside his house.

3:27 p.m.: A caller reported a black Toyota RAV-4 was leaving Luby Avenue and took off driving erratically. The caller was concerned because a lot of children were in the area. The incident occurred about 2 p.m., she said.

3:38 p.m.: A woman told police someone had placed large boulders in shopping carts, then put them on Kellett Drive. She asked for extra patrols.

3:39 p.m.: A three-car crash was reported on Cape Road, near No injuries were involved.

3:56 p.m.: A caller reported a Jeep Liberty had come off Interstate 495 at Cedar Street, heading toward Hopkinton, and was "all over the road." Police put out a "be on the lookout" but could not find the vehicle.

4:12 p.m.: A caller from reported that a homeless man was inside the restaurant and would not leave. The man was removed by police.

4:27 p.m.: A caller told police that some of his students have been posting threats on Facebook about him. He asked to speak to an officer.

4:47 p.m.: A two-car crash was reported in the parking lot at and the caller said the two parties were arguing. One car cut the other off. No injuries were involved.

4:57 p.m.: An officer reported a broken bottle on the walkway at Pleasant and Congress streets. The Highway Department was contacted.

5:02 p.m.: A two-car crash was reported near on East Main Street. A pregnant woman was among the passengers, and was taken to for evaluation.

5:46 p.m.: A 14-year-old baseball player smashed into a fence at Votolato Field, according to a police narrative. He was conscious and alert following the collision but was taken to Milford Regional Medical Center.

6:11 p.m.: A woman turned in a bullet that her child brought home from a visitation with his father.

7:00 p.m.: A caller reported an erratic driver on Congress at West streets. The Ford F-150 swerved all over the road and almost hit several parked cars, the caller reported. Police put out a "be on the lookout" but could not locate the vehicle.

7:48 p.m.: A caller complained that two dogs on Trinity Drive were barking. The owner leaves them out all night, the caller complained. Police responded, but the dogs were inside and nobody was home at the address. The animal control officer was to be notified.

8:31 p.m.: A caller from reported a man appeared to be intoxicated and was bleeding from the head. He was taken to the hospital.

8:58 p.m.: A male said he was online with his girlfriend and she said she took five Ambien, a sleeping pill, and "now she isn't responding to his text messages." Police checked and the girlfriend seemed OK. Her father was going to keep an eye on her.

9:01 p.m.: A group of youths reported to be loitering in the parking lot of on South Main Street was gone when police arrived.

9:09 p.m.: Police responded to for a report of two women who had stolen "multiple cosmetics." The women came in to police headquarters after being stopped in Mendon. Milford police are seeking a court summons to charge Nicole Labelle, 27, of 21 A River St., Upton, with shoplifting more than $100 by concealing merchandise. Police are seeking a summons to charge Mandi Lee Kerivan, 26, of 41 Taft Ave., Mendon, with shoplifting more than $100 by concealing merchandise.

10:00 p.m.: Police received several calls about a two-car crash on Medway Road, near Injuries were in both vehicles, and at least one person was taken to the hospital.

10:45 p.m.: A caller from on South Main Street reported a group of youths was loitering, generating complaints from customers. Police restored peace.

Friday, May 4

8:22 a.m.: An officer determined the shopping carts left on Kellett Drive belonged to Rite Aid. The business was notified and said they would be retrieved on Friday.

8:46 a.m.: A woman walked in to police headquarters to report she had been assaulted by her husband the previous night. She did not need medical treatment but asked for information on a restraining order. Police arrested Steven Mansaray, 34, of 33 Sumner St., Milford, on a charge of domestic assault and battery.

8:47 a.m.: A three-vehicle crash with no injury was reported near on Main Street.

11:15 a.m.: The received an anonymous envelope in the mail with "a gold ring, blue sapphire and diamonds" inside.
