Police Log: Stereo System Theft at Target, Motorcyclist Injured

The following information was provided by the Milford Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Sunday, Aug. 25

12:07 a.m.: State Police reported an intoxicated man was out of control on East Main Street. Police responded, and reported the man had a laceration to his wrist. He was taken to Milford Regional Medical Center.

12:18 a.m.: A caller said a man had stopped her as she was driving down Dilla Street, and asked for police, saying he had been thrown into the water. Police requested an ambulance for him when they responded, as he was complaining of leg pain. The man was taken to the hospital.

12:50 a.m.: A caller reported a large party going on on Cypress Road. Police responded and found no activity.

12:58 a.m.: Following a motor vehicle stop on Claflin Street, police were seeking a summons to charge Maria Lema, 26, of 28 Water St., Milford, with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, miscellaneous motor vehicle equipment violation, and owner's name not displayed on a commercial vehicle.

2:17 a.m.: Following a motor vehicle stop on Main Street, near Johnny Jack's Restaurant, police arrested Ednardo Cardoso, 36, of 110 Puritan Ave., Worcester, on charges of OUI Liquor and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

6:47 a.m.: Firefighters responded to a brush fire behind the Milford Water Company on Dilla Street. Mendon's fire tower reported a column of smoke in the area.

10:21 a.m.: A black Ford Mustang was reported to be on fire at EZ Laundromat. It was smoking. Firefighters responded.

11:20 a.m.: A hit and run was reported on School Street.

12:41 p.m.: A caller at Milford Mandarin Restaurant reported his Kia Optima had been damaged.

1:22 p.m.: Firefighters responded to the Vietnam Trails area to wet down an area burned previously.

3:24 p.m.: A woman was reported to be laying in the shrubs on East Main Street, near the former music store. Police checked and reported everything was OK.

4:08 p.m.: Several callers reported a crash involving a motorcycle and a Honda Accord on Asylum at West streets. The rider was still down in the road. He was taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.

4:17 p.m.: A caller said an out of control youth was assaulting other children on Lincoln Street. Police filed a report.

6:05 p.m.: A man on Water Street reported hearing several loud booms from another address on that street. Police could not locate the noise.

6:06 p.m.: A caller on West Street said he heard eight loud bangs.

6:15 p.m.: Target's loss prevention officer called and said the store had someone trying to steal a stereo system. Police responded and stopped the vehicle described by the reporting caller near Wendy's. Police are seeking a summons to charge Stacey S. Harris, 47, of 15 Peverell St., Boston, with shoplifting by concealing merchandise, second offense, receiving stolen property more than $250, conspiracy, and receiving stolen property less than $250. Police are seeking a summons to charge Anthony M. Harris, 45, of 12 Fisher Ave., Apt. 1, Roxbury, with four counts of shoplifting by asportation, second offense; three counts of receiving stolen property more than $250; four counts of conspiracy; and one count of receiving stolen property less than $250.

7:24 p.m.: Fireworks were reported to be going off on Water Street.

7:49 p.m.: A man said his child came back from a custody exchange with a bruise, and asked to speak to an officer.

9:22 p.m.: A caller on Exchange Street reported loud music and screaming.

9:34 p.m.: A caller on Taft Street said a group of five boys was screaming, and hitting cars in the area, and causing a disturbance for the second night in a row. Police spoke to them.

10:59 p.m.: A caller said a man was hiding in the bushes of a driveway on St. John Lane. The man was waiting for a friend. Police told him not to wait in other people's driveways.

Monday, Aug. 26

12:26 a.m.: A caller reported loud banging on Fordham Drive.

5:57 a.m.: A 16-year-old had possibly overdosed, a caller said. The 16-year-old was arrested by police on a warrant and taken to Milford Regional Medical Center.

6:09 a.m.: A vehicle was repossessed on East Street Extension.

10:51 a.m.: a microwave, refrigerator and television were reported stolen from the Courtyard By Marriott Hotel.

11:25 a.m.: A caller on Leonard Street said fishing poles were missing.
