Police Log: Animal Cruelty Reported After Woman Seen 'Punching' Dog

The following information was provided by the Milford Police Department. Where arrests are mentioned, they do not indicate conviction.

At 2:39 a.m., police received a report of two cars bearing no handicap parking plaques were parked illegally in handicap spot behind a building on Claudette Drive.

At 2:43 a.m., police responded to Dennis Road on a report of an intoxicated person and subsequently placed two Marlborough residents into protective custody.

At 1:23 p.m., police responded to a report of larceny on Sunset Drive after a caller claimed his home was broken into in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, from which a laptop was stolen and through a tracking device was able to track the computer to a Milford residence. The stolen property was later recovered and police issued a summons to a 21-year-old Milford man for receiving stolen property of less than $250.

At 5:59 p.m., police received a report of animal cruelty after a caller claimed she witnessed a woman punching a small black dog with a closed fist multiple times in the area of Main Street. Police responded to the address given by the caller and were not able to find any dogs matching the description.

At 8:28 p.m., police pulled a vehicle over on East Walnut Street and subsequently issued a summons to James Sansone, 30, of Milford, for driving a vehicle negligently so as to endanger, speeding, a marked lanes violation and failure to yield at an intersection.
