Police Log: $600 Gnome Stolen, Men Searching for Scrap Metal

The following information was provided by the Milford Police Department. When arrests are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Monday, Jan. 13

5:16 p.m.: A caller on Woodridge Road said a gnome statue was stolen from her backyard. The 3-foot-tall object was worth about $600.

8:15 p.m.: A caller reported her brother and father were arguing and fighting. Police responded and found the brother in the basement and the father in the kitchen. It was verbal only.

Tuesday, Jan. 14

12:52 a.m.: Firefighters responded to Main Street, for a kitchen fire above the Asia Cafe site. The firefighters reported it was burnt food on the stove. They ventilated the second floor.

1:07 a.m.: A caller from Rhode Island said she had received a text from her 14-year-old daughter, who reported she had been picked up in RI by a man and a woman and needed help, and based on her phone tracking, was near the the Holiday Inn Express in Milford. Police then tracked the location of the phone. The girl was found and turned over to her mother.

12:42 p.m.: A caller reported a vehicle was going in and out of her driveway on East Main Street, and her husband spoke with the men inside, and it appeared they were looking for scrap metal.
