A man from Milford accidentally shot his friend through the thigh while cleaning out a new .40-caliber pistol this week, WCVB reported.

The 21-year-old was reportedly unaware that a round had been in the chamber of the gun while he was cleaning it, and he subsequently shot his friend around 4:22 p.m. Wednesday, according to the report.

This guy makes all of us look bad. I don't know where he learned to clean his gun but generally you disassemble the slide making the gun inoperable. How do you clean a barrel if there's a round chambered? I know everyone makes mistakes but this is a big one and it could've been much worse

NOT an accident. The 21 year old had his firearm loaded. He tried to jam his 23 year old friends magazine into his gun (I know. Really) as he was trying to unstick the magazine, his finger was on the trigger. BOOM! Now. Why is it "accidental" and not negligent? Why are no names posted? Why is he me being charged, not getting his LTC revoked? His father is a milford cop. Nice that if me, a peasant had "negligently" discharged my firearm, I would have already been tried, convicted and prosecuted. But since this kid is protected from his stupidity and any legal ramifications because of this fact

police chief. He's a really good guy and a strong supporter of our constitutional right to keep and bear arms, but this story has angered a lot of legal gun owners in this state
