Milford Man, 57, Accused of Holding Knife to Man's Throat

The victim told police the man held a knife to his dog's throat, and then released the animal and grabbed him.

A 57-year-old Milford resident was arrested Monday night on a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, after another man said he held a knife to his throat on Exchange Street.

Police arrested David Walker, 57, of 51 Exchange St., Apt. 8, about 7 p.m. Monday.

The victim told police he was walking his dog on Exchange Street, and stopped to yell at a residence where two women owed him money. He was hoping they would hear him. Instead, a man later identified as Walker yelled back, from the top of the stairwell.

An argument ensued, and the victim said he crossed the street with his dog, toward the apartment house. According to an arrest report by officer David Falvey: "The male subject put a knife to the dog's throat. [The victim] went to get his dog and the male subject put the knife to [his] neck," then threatened to kill him and mentioned he'd just been released from jail after six years.

When Falvey interviewed Walker, he reported the man told him he had only grabbed the dog's ear. When it yelped, he let it go. He said he only pulled the victim's hair.

A witness, however, told police that he saw Walker put the knife to the dog's throat, and then the victim's throat, Falvey wrote.
