Original post: A 32-year-old man was stabbed in Milford Sunday night, and was taken to a trauma hospital in Worcester by ambulance, according to police.

Police are now searching for two suspects, who were identified by the victim and his girlfriend. The man is in stable condition at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, said Milford Deputy Police Chief James Heron, in an email message.

The stabbing was reported about 10:20 p.m., initially as a disturbance at an East Main Street apartment. On arrival, police found a man had several stab wounds, including a chest wound that had collapsed a lung, Heron wrote.

The victim was taken by ambulance to UMass only because weather conditions had grounded the life-flight helicopter.

The assault occurred after the two suspects arrived at the victim's home and began an argument, according to police. The victim was stabbed during this confrontation. The suspects then fled the scene and police issued a "BOLO" to all police authorities.

Police were in the process Monday morning of obtaining warrants for their arrest, although there is probable cause for police to apprehend them now, Heron said. Police have identified a general area where they are hiding. Heron did not identify the suspects by name.
