Driver Plunges into Retention Pond

The car crashed into a light pole, then plunged down an embankment into a retention pond.

A driver was taken to Milford Regional Medical Center Monday after police received several calls that a car was on fire, and had driven into water at East Main and Beaver streets.

The police found the car had struck a light pole on Fortune Boulevard. The car, a Toyota Corolla, stopped short of the water line. The crash was reported at 3:45 p.m.

More information was not available Monday afternoon, as the police report was not completed.
