Boy Dies After Suffering Cardiac Arrest at Fino Field Pool in Milford

A 10-year-old boy who went into cardiac arrest at the Fino Field Pool in Milford on Sunday has succumbed to his injuries, according to Milford police. 

The boy, identified Monday as Alexander Cora, reportedly went into cardiac arrest on Sunday afternoon while taking a swimming test at the pool on Granite Street. 

Cora was later determined to have an undiagnosed heart condition, according to MyFoxBoston. He was a resident of Blackstone, according to Telegram.com.

The Milford Police Department issued the following statement late Tuesday night:  

"It is with the deepest regret and sympathy that the men and women of the Milford Police and Fire Departments express our recognition of the tragic loss of Alexander Cora who succumbed to his injuries from an incident at the Fino Field Pool on Sunday. We regret it may appear that we are delayed in expressing our thoughts, but we continue in fulfillment of our professional responsibilities to Alexander and the tragic loss of 18-year-old Nentor Dahn who drowned on the same day in a quarry in Milford."

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help with the family's costs of services and other related fees. As of Wednesday morning, the effort had raised $5,315, exceeding its  goal of $5,000.
