How Unbelievable is This?

How unbelievable is this?  Here in Milford, our elected officials are dazzled by the potential of $20 million in property tax revenue from a 24/7 gambling establishment.  All while parading the promise of these millions, Foxwoods in the same breath, talks of dealing with the increase in the well documented problem of gambling addiction in and around a casino town. The plan legislated by the state to deal with this is woefully inadequate with passive measures such as sign posting and on site counseling.  Is this not like treating an alcoholic in a bar?  How can such a ridiculous contradiction to common sense occur?  Are we, the residents of Milford, ready to accept such a social decline in the town we call home?

Our local government, being pandered to by Foxwoods, is contemplating the acceptance of addiction, crime, water shortages, increased traffic congestion, social issues, and who knows what… all for the promise of some big pay off.  Our homes will be unsellable and our town a casino doormat; a place to be avoided by all except the gamblers and recreational partiers.  Now there is a legacy worth forgetting.
