5 Things You Need to Know Today: Dec. 13
Milford firefighters will help provide coverage for the city of Worcester Thursday, so that city firefighters can attend the funeral of a fellow firefighter.

1.will send Ladder 1 and a crew to help cover emergencies in Worcester Thursday, along with six other communities, so that firefighters in that city can attend the funeral of Jon D. Davies Sr., a Worcester firefighter who was killed while fighting a fire in a triple-decker.
2. helped 257 families in Milford, Hopedale and Mendon at Thanksgiving, and expects to help 485 families at Christmas, according to pastor David Irwin.

3. Turkeys for distribution to families will be accepted by the Salvation Army on Dec. 19 and 20, Irwin said, and will be provided to families on Dec. 21.
4. Richard's Food and Drink, 67 Medway Rd., received approval Monday from Milford Selectmen to start offering karaoke as entertainment.

5. Milford Selectmen approved a license for Eva's Restaurant and Pizzaria, 55 Water St., which the owner said would feature Brazilian foods, pizza, subs and other family favorites.
