5 Things Milford Wants under its Tree for Christmas

What's on Milford's wish list? Here are five. We're sure we missed some, so tell us what we forgot in the comments section.

1. Synchronized lights on Main Street: the lights are new, the sidewalks are new, but the delays and blocked intersections from people running red lights are getting really old.

2. A Taco Bell: Oh, chalupas, how people in Milford miss you. Every time Milford Patch posts a "What should go here?" column, at least three people cry out for a Taco Bell.

3. A new and improved Woodland School: This is a school building that's past its prime. No one is sure what will take its place — a two-story or one-story building, a new addition — but we're optimistic it won't be open concept.

4. More than 300 people can't be wrong. That's how many people showed up last week to tell the state Department of Public Utilities what they think of the Milford Water Company and its rate increase request.

5. Cheaper gas: Everyone pays a bit more in Milford for the convenience of full service. But now that Gasco has closed its fuel pumps, all of our cheap gas options are gone. Just curious, how many are filling up in other towns?

I would not call the full service gas stations in town very convenient. Quite the opposite. You pull up, have to wait until someone comes over to your car, pump the gas, wait until they come back to take the nozzle out and then take your payment. Even longer if they need to run a credit card. Much quicker with self serve. I feel silly standing there if I need a gas can filled. Every chance I get, I fill up outside of town.

Prime in Upton has best prices around, Gasco there is next. Can't wait for Imperial to re-open in Mendon. All will be worth the few minutes drive. Full service in Upton, not sure what Mendon will be but I'd rather not pump my own in cold weather!

I always fill up at BJ's in Franklin. I dislike the full service stations in Milford.

Full service? It's laughable. Back when, "full service" meant check your oil and clean the windshield, not just pump the fuel.
