Obituaries: Paul McCausland, Elizabeth Dec, Irving Jones, Gardner Rhett, Sandra Tebeau

The following residents and former residents of Milford have died in recent years.

Paul V. McCausland, 84, of Vero Beach, FL and previously of Upton, passed away Sat. Sept. 14, at home. He was the husband of the late Rosemary G. (Potter) McCausland who died in 1992. Mr. McCausland was the owner of McCausland’s Market in Milford for 38 years until his retirement in 1992. He was born August 5, 1929 in Milford, the son of the late Raymond H. and Florence M. (Miller) McCausland and was a graduate of Milford High School, Class of 1948.

Elizabeth V. (Gibbs) Dec, 78, of Milford who lived with her daughter Tawnya, died Sat. Sept. 14, at UMASS Medical Center, Lake St., Worcester. She was the wife of Frederick J. Dec who died in 1993. Mrs. Dec was born December 5, 1934 in Hopedale, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Thelma (Gaskill) Gibbs. She was a graduate of Hopedale High School. Mrs. Dec was a past volunteer at the Milford Regional Medical Center for many years.

Irving Jones, 63, of Milford passed away September 14,at the Milford Regional Medical Center. Mr. Jones was born in Boston, September 2, 1950 the son of Irving and Geneva (Mathis) Jones. Irving is survived by his housemates, Ed, John, Eddie and Danny, staff: Courtney, Missy, Kat, Bab, Pam, Lori, Michele, Becky, Bryant, Gabriel, Florence, Mayowa, and Ruth, service coordinators, Carol and Ellen. 

Mr. Gardner L. “Gardie” Rett, 76, of Plainville and formerly of Milford, died Tuesday (September 17) at Norwood Hospital after an illness. He was the beloved husband of Terri A. (O’Brien) Rett. Mr. Rett was born in Milford, the son of the late Louis J. Rett Jr. and the late Lena (Catella) Rett. He was a graduate of Milford High School, Class of 1955. Mr. Rett was an accomplished baseball player who was a star member of the high school baseball team as well as the Milford Legion baseball team. He was acknowledged to be, at the age of fifteen, the youngest baseball player to hit a home run in Fenway Park. He also went on to play for the Cleveland Indians baseball organization, playing in their AAA affiliate. 

Sandra F. (DiVittorio) Tebeau, 69, of Milford, where she was a lifelong resident, died on Saturday, Sept. 14 at the Milford Regional Medical Center. Daughter of the late Edna (Hart) and James Calcagni, She was the wife of the late Lawrence D. Tebeau, whom passed in 1990. She was a Milford High School, class of 1962 graduate, and a longtime “Heights” resident. Sandra had worked for 25 years in various capacities at the Milford Regional Medical Center in Milford, loved the Cape, sewing and crafting. 
She was the mother of Doreen F. Burgos and her husband Luis, of Milford, Michael D. Tebeau and his wife Beth, of Charles Town, WV, Dynese A. Brown and her husband William, of Whitinsville, Deborah Tebeau of Northbridge, Steven Tebeau of Milford, and the late Susan M. Tebeau.
