Obituaries: Michael Parente Sr., Cecilia Fisher, Raymond Hirx, James Todd

Milford has lost longtime residents and community volunteers

Michael T. Parente Sr., 89, died Dec. 16. He was a lifelong resident of Milford, graduating from Milford High School with the Class of 1940. He served in World War II in the U.S. Army and was a corrections officer at MCI Norfolk until his retirement in 1985. He was active in town as a member of the Sons of Italy, Milford Italian Veterans, VFW in Medway, American Legion, and a communicant of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy, three sons, and a large extended local family. His services were handled by Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home

Cecilia G.(Samiagio) Fisher, 86, died Monday, Dec. 10. A lifelong resident of Milford, she was surrounded by a large extended family. She was predeceased by husband, Donald Fisher, and she is survived by two  sons, Nick Fisher and Jerry Fisher of Milford, six daughters Dawn Marie Stevens of Mendon, Mona Fisher, Shirley Fisher, Margaret Washer, Teresa Ramsey, and Cecilia Mittenberg, all of Milford, 13 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Her funeral service was Friday, from James E. Kellett and Son Funeral Home, with burial in Vernon Grove Cemetery.

Raymond J. Hirx, 64, died Sunday, Dec. 16. Born in Rockville Centre, NY, he moved to Milford in 1985. He was involved in several community organizations such as Boy Scouts, where he served as scoutmaster and Unit Commissioner; he coached youth baseball, softball and soccer. He served as chairman of the Relay for Life, and volunteered with many other local organizations.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Delores, four children and two grandchildren. His funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 22, at 9 a.m. from the Buma-Sargeant Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be Friday, Dec. 21 from 4-7 p.m. in the funeral home.

James Todd, 65, died Dec. 17. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, he moved to Milford as a child and graduated from Milford High School with the Class of 1965. He worked for the former Mass Electric for 35 years, before retiring in 2005.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Lorraine, his mother, Mary Todd of Milford, three children and four grandchildren. His funeral will be held Saturday, Dec. 29 at 10 a.m. from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. In accordance with his wishes,  cremation will follow. Visiting hours will be Friday, Dec. 28 from 4 to 7 p.m.
