Obituaries: Leona Murray, Anthony Tumolo Sr., David J. Michelson, Robert DiVittorio, Kathleen Brown, Dora Bracci

These residents and former residents of Milford have died recently.

The following residents or former residents of Milford have died in recent days.

Leona E. (Paietta) Murray, 101, of Sagamore Beach, and formerly of Milford died July 4, 2013 at her home on Cape Cod.  She was the wife of the late George L. Murray Sr., who died in 1993. Mrs. Murray is survived by her daughter, Roberta Lee Thompson of Westminster CA and her son, George L. Murray Jr. and his wife Frances of Milford. Mrs. Murray was a graduate of Milford High School, Class of 1931. She went on to Burdette College, graduating in 1932.

Mrs. Murray was employed in a law office in Boston and when unemployment compensation became law, with an office in Milford, she transferred there and worked as secretary to the office manager. Mrs. Murray also worked for ten years as secretary to the vice-president at the former Stylon Corporation, located in Milford. She also worked as co-ordinator for traveling secretary for the Boston Red Sox, and later as secretary for the superintendent of the Milford Public Schools. 

Anthony N. Tumolo Sr., 89, of Mendon, and formerly of Milford, died July 5 at the Milford Regional Medical Center after a period of declining health. He was the husband of Rosemary (Wagner) Tumolo. He was born on December 5, 1923, the son of the late Michele and the late Francesca (Neglia) Tumolo and was a life-long Milford resident before moving to Mendon 10 years ago. He attended the Milford public schools as a young boy and graduated from Milford High School. He later attended the Worcester Trade School.. 

Mr. Tumolo was a WWII US Navy veteran and worked many years as a welder at GAF Corporation in Millis, several years at Sealtest Dairy in Framingham, and Garelick Farms in Franklin before retiring from General Motors 23 years ago. 

David J. Michelson, 69, of Milford died Thursday, July 11, at Milford Regional Medical Center after an illness. Mr. Michelson was born in Biddeford, ME and was a graduate of Boston English High School. He was also a graduate of Northeastern University in Boston. Mr. Michelson was a Viet Nam era veteran having served in the US Air Force and was a member of the Italian-American Veterans Post #40 of Milford. He had been employed most of his life as a sales person working for various companies in the greater Milford area. 

Robert DiVittorio, 85, of Stoughton and formerly of Milford died Friday, July 12, at Epoch of Sharon in Sharon after a period of declining health. Mr. DiVittorio was born in Milford, the son of the late John DiVittorio Sr. and the late Rose (Cenedella) DiVittorio. He attended Milford public schools as a young boy. 

Mr. DiVittorio was a handyman who loved to work with his hands. As a young man he was employed with an aluminum siding company. He later owned and operated a carpet store in Milford for many years. He also was involved with his brothers in the home construction business in the greater Milford area. Later in life he owned and operated a window treatment business located in Stoughton and then finally worked as a cab driver in the greater Stoughton area.

Kathleen J. (Higgins) Brown, 70 , of Milford, formerly of Holliston, passed away July 9 at home after a long illness. She was the wife of Louis M. “Lou” Brown Sr. Mrs. Brown had been employed at Dennison Manufacturing in Milford for over 35 years before her retirement. Kathleen was born April 17, 1943 in Holliston the daughter of the late Harvey G. and Muriel (Turner) Higgins. She was a graduate of Holliston High School, Class of 1961. 

Kathleen was a volunteer at the Milford Regional Medical Center, and was a receptionist at the Atria Draper Place, Hopedale and Golden Pond in Hopkinton. She enjoyed walking and was a former member of Women’s World and Perfect Shape gyms both of Milford.

Dora P. (Ferrucci) Bracci, 89, of Milford died Friday July 12 at the Milford Regional Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Americo J. Bracci who died in 1991. She was born in Milford, daughter of the late Luigi and Lamedica Ferrucci and was a lifelong Milford resident. She was a graduate of the Milford High School class of 1941.
     
Mrs. Bracci retired in 1995 from the Milford Regional Medical Center where she was employed as a dietary aide.  She was a communicant of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. She is survived by her daughter AnnMarie and her husband Thomas Keegan of Milford.
