Obituaries: Jeffrey Boland, 44, and Arthur DiVitto, 96, Recipient of Bronze Star

The following residents of Milford have died in recent days.

Mr. Jeffrey Boland, 44, of Milford, died Friday (Dec. 6, 2013) at his residence surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. 
Mr. Boland was born in Philadelphia PA, the son of Catherine (Bringhurst) Boland of Milford and the son of James Boland of Cape Coral, FL. He attended the Life Experience School in Millis for many years and was a proud member of the Special Peace Corps of Millis. 
Mr. Boland loved playing his guitar and spending time with his family, also with his dog “Otis,” and at his school. 

Mr. Arthur R. “Blackie” DiVitto, 96, of Milford, died unexpectedly on Saturday (Dec. 7, 2013) at his residence. He was the beloved husband of Mary E. (Garrity) DiVitto, who died in 2007. Mr. DiVitto was born in Milford, the son of the late Nunziato and the late Carmella (Morcone) DiVitto. He attended Milford public schools as a young boy and was a graduate of Milford High School. 
Mr. DiVitto was a lifelong resident of Milford and a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Mr. DiVitto had been employed for 40 years for the town of Milford, working as a custodian for the Milford School Department, retiring in 1986. Prior to that, he had served in the US Army during WW II in the Asiatic-Pacific theatre, attaining the rank of S/SGT. He was awarded the Western Pacific campaign bronze battle star for outstanding performance while serving with the 21st Bomber Command, 20th Air Force, at the B-29 Superfortress base on Tinian in the Mariana Islands.
