Obituaries: Eleanor DeMaria, Gladys Foglio, Virginia Heath, M. Thelma Collins

The following residents or former residents of Milford died in recent days.

Eleanor A. (Ghiloni) DeMaria, 85, of Milford died Tues., Oct. 8, after an illness. She was the wife of Nicholas J. DeMaria.
Mrs. DeMaria was employed as a children’s librarian for 29 years for the Town of Milford, retiring in 1994. She was born March 23, 1928 in Marlborough, daughter of the late Christopher and Alice (Dwyer) Ghiloni. A resident of Milford since 1947, she was a graduate of the former St. Anne’s Academy in Marlborough and had attended Boston University. Mr. & Mrs. DeMaria observed their 65th wedding anniversary on Oct. 12, 2012.

Gladys E. (Lemay) Foglio, 78, of Milford passed away Thursday Oct. 10 in the Milford Regional Medical Center. She was the wife of Richard J. Foglio. Gladys was a secretary at the former Draper Corporation, Hopedale, for several years retiring in 1961. She was born, Nov. 5, 1934 in Blackstone, the daughter of the late Ovila and Mary (O’Neill) Lemay and was a graduate of Blackstone High School, class of 1952. 
Mr. and Mrs. Foglio celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary this past June. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, enjoyed square dancing, a good card game, and was a Red Sox Fan.

Virginia A. (Skillings) Heath, 82, of Milford, died Oct. 4 in her home. She was born in Newport News, VA, daughter of the late Ned and Carol (Nason) Skillings and lived in Maine before moving to Milford where she resided for many years. She was educated in the Buxport, ME schools and was a graduate of the Boston City Hospital nursing program. Mrs. Heath retired in 1992 from the Milford V.N.A. where she was employed as a registered nurse.

M. Thelma (Hicks) Collins, 96, of Milford, died Oct. 2 at the Genesis HealthCare after a period of declining health. She was the widow of the late Lawrence F. Collins. She was born in Ellenburg, NY the daughter of the late Wilfred and the late Mary (Pennell) Hicks and resided in Milford since 2003. She had previously lived in Londonderry, NH, Wilmington, MA., Revere and East Boston. Mrs. Collins graduated from East Boston High School and was a homemaker during her life.
