Obituaries: Philip Camlin, Doris Williams, Doris Lamontagne, Joseph Zappella, Margaret Larson

Philip Camlin, 92, formerly of Holliston and Hopkinton, passed away Sunday, Feb. 24. A graduate of Hopkinton High School, he was the lead singer in the popular local groups, the Banjo Hobos and then the Banjo Rowdies, who entertained for years throughout Massachusetts and at the New York World’s Fair in 1964. He and Mary were also active square dancers with the Holliston Squares. In later years, he volunteered at the Holliston Senior Center and was a fixture at the produce stall at its annual Harvest Fair.

Doris S. (Evers) Williams, 84, of Milford, died Friday, Feb. 22. Mrs. Williams was a Hotel Lobby Attendant at the former Milford Sheraton Hotel for more than 8 years before her retirement in 1993. She previously worked for many years at the former Cushing Hospital in Framingham. During her retirement she worked part time for Primary Home Care of Milford. Mrs. Williams was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Milford and a former member of the Italian American Veterans Club of Milford.

Doris I. (Lauzon) Lamontagne, 88, of Milford, where she has lived for 47 years, died Thursday, Feb. 21. Wife of the late Reginald Lamontagne, she retired from General Electric in Ashland. She had also worked for Timex. She was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Milford, and enjoyed volunteering at the church, the Milford Senior Center, and Milford Hospital. She also enjoyed bowling, dancing, exercise, and was an avid walker.

Joseph A. Zappella, 72, of Naples, Florida and Uxbridge and formerly of Milford, died Wednesday, Feb. 20. Mr. Zappella was an avid musician and singer and was a member of the Lely Resort Golf and C.C. in Naples, FL. He loved motorcycles, boating, fishing-especially quahogging, and golf. He was a loving husbaappella was an avid musician and singer and was a member of the Lely Resort Golf and C.C. in Naples, FL. O. Margaret (Frey) Larson, 96, of Shrewsbury and formerly of Milford, died Sunday, Feb. 17. Mrs. Larson was employed as a registered nurse and shift supervisor for over 10 years at the Countryside Healthcare of Milford, retiring in 1983. She was previously employed for many years at the Milford Hospital and had also worked as a private duty nurse.
