Tonight I went to see the Milford Public Schools' staff and faculty production of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum with my middle school daughter and two of her friends. For two hours teachers, administrators, and others sang, danced, and joked on stage. Afterwards I asked them what they thought of the show - all three of them said it was funny and that they enjoyed it tremendously. Then I pointed out that this funny, enjoyable production was put on by THEIR teachers. You could almost hear the gears in their heads grinding to a halt at the thought that their teachers could do all that!
I hope that this production is the start of a local trend - teachers returning to their roots as performers. On Milford Performs we encourage those who instruct others to take the opportunity to show the Milford community as well as their students what they can do with their art as a result of study and practice.
As for A Funny Thing - go see it at Milford High School tomorrow night! At $5 and $10 per ticket you will find lots of entertainment for not a lot of money.
