Annie Gets Her Gun and Your Attention!

The girls and I went to Steps Off Broadway's production of Anne Get Your Gun last night and thoroughly enjoyed it!  The show has a ton of songs that are familiar - "There's No Business Like Show Business", "They Say It's Wonderful", and "Anything You Can Do."   The show itself is dated - a 1946 show about a frontier show from the 1880's will be like that - and the attitudes toward women and Native Americans are more than a bit off-putting, even though the book has been rewritten to lessen some of the stereotyping.  Mostly what you see at Steps is terrific performances, especially from the show's lead Stephanie Urko, an instructor at Dance Works Academy in Upton and long-time Steps favorite.  She dances and sings nearly flawlessly through a demanding role that is on stage for nearly two hours.  The dancing in the show is impressive as well throughout the company.  Two more performances left, tonight and tomorrow afternoon.  Go see it!
