Where Can I Recycle My Christmas Tree in Milford?

Milford residents have two options: take it to the transfer station, or for a small fee, have it picked up by the Milford Boy Scouts.

If you have a Christmas tree, a live one, you can't drag it out to the curb with the garbage, although every year, someone tries.

You do have options for it that will turn the tree into something useful, like mulch. Here's what we found:

1. Take it to the Milford Transfer Station. Town residents who have already paid for a $20 transfer station sticker can drop off their tree for free, during regular transfer station hours. If you do not have a sticker, you will have to pay for one. The trees will be taken away and turned into mulch. This is not an option for a business, just for residents.

2. The Milford Boy Scouts will collect Christmas trees door to door in Milford from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Jan. 5. Tape an $8 donation to the tree or your front door, and make sure you haul them out to the curb by 8 a.m. Make sure the tree is stripped of all ornaments, too. These trees will be dropped off by the Scouts at the town's transfer station, and turned into mulch.
