Annual Memorial Day Parade Returns to Milford on Monday

The parade will kick off from the Stop and Shop Parking Lot Monday morning.

Milford officials announced Wednesday that the town's annual Memorial Day Parade will return this Monday, May 26.

An assembly of divisions will begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday, and the parade will kick off at 10 a.m. in the Stop & Shop parking lot, led by Grand Marshal Lawrence Hughes, past commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Milford. 

The parade will travel up East Main Street to the Calzone Memorial Park, where a brief ceremony will be held.

The parade will then continue up Main Street to Draper Memorial Park, where a speaking program will take place. Edward Rizoli, Quartermaster of the Italian-American War Veterans Post, will serve as the master of ceremonies for the event, and Milford High School student Kayla Williamson will read Logan's Address. 

Milford Board of Selectman Chair Dino DeBartolomeis and State Sen. Richard Moore will also be at the event Monday.

The four divisions will comprise local and state officials, along with members of the Disabled War Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Italian American War Veterans, the American Legion and the Police and Fire Honor Guards. 

Members of the Montgomery Lodge of Masons will also march in the parade Monday, as will two marching bands from Milford High School and Milford Middle School, followed by boy scouts and girls scouts of Milford.
