Family of Scott Ellmore Creates Scholarship Fund for Milford Students
The memorial scholarship will help a Milford High School senior pursue a career in the military service.
The friends of Scott Ellmore, a Milford father and resident, created a GoFundMe site several months ago to help the family and to cover his medical expenses as he was trying to overcome cancer.
Ellmore died on Nov. 1, a year after his diagnosis. In a recent updated post, the founder of the GoFundMe site announced that the contributions will be used for a memorial scholarship for Milford High School seniors who will pursue a career path in the U.S. Navy or head into ROTC.
"Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the D. Scott Ellmore Scholarship Fund, 23 Glines Ave. Milford MA. 01757. This scholarship will be given yearly to a senior who is going into the Navy or ROTC," wrote Maria Newman, a friend of Ellmore's.
The GoFundMe site has raised more than $75,000 to date.
