"Shouting Won't Help: Why I - and 50 Million Other Americans - Can't Hear You"
Katherine Bouton, a former editor at the New York Times, left her job after she increasingly couldn't hear what her colleagues were saying, despite her denials of a problem. By the end of 2008 she was profoundly deaf in her left ear and had a severe hearing loss in the right. Her best-selling book tells the story of her loss and recovery, unravels the confusion about hearing aids, and describes her experience with a cochlear implant.
She will be reading from her book and engaging in a discussion with the audience.
