Hurricane Sandy: Milford Info Center

Updated: Many businesses and shops remained open in Milford during Hurricane Sandy; others may be closed due to power loss. Check here for updates.

Updated Tuesday 10:20 a.m.:

Trash and recycling are being collected in Milford Tuesday; it it's your day, take it out to the curb.

Amtrak service is not yet moving, but the MBTA is back up and running, the governor announced at 10:15 a.m.

A large tree that was blocking one lane of Route 140 (north), just into Upton, has been removed.

Milford schools will be closed Tuesday, following Hurricane Sandy, as will Blackstone Valley Tech in Upton.

The Milford Youth Center also will be closed.

Milford Town Hall is expected to reopen Tuesday. The Milford District Court was expected to reopen at noon.

Hi, Milford is collecting garbage and recycling this morning, until weather conditions worsen. So, put the trash out if it's your day. And Milford Town Hall will be closing at noon.

This post from the Milford Area Chamber of Commerce: Due to the severe weather conditions and the state of emergency declared by the Governor the Milford Area Chamber of Commerce postponed the MegaExpo at Gillette Stadium from Tuesday, October 30th to Wednesday, November 14th from 3pm to 7pm. Everything remains the same except for the date change.

The campaign of Joseph Kennedy III has announced he is canceling events Monday: at the Commons Eatery and Café, Foxboro; and at the Middlesex, Norfolk, and Worcester Democratic Alliance GOTV Rally, Elks Lodge, Franklin.

Milford Main Street area still has power. Lots of convenience stores/service businesses still open. The 7-eleven says they're going to stay open until they lose power...

Milford Police via Twitter are reporting that wires are down on Franklin, Chestnut, Ravenna and Brookfield roads. A transformer blew on Water Street, 255 in that area, and Prospect Heights, now without power.

chestnut street still has power at our end (we're on the forest street side). Talking to a neighbor closer to that end of the street, they still have electric too. I think it was the Chestnut Tree that broke...

According to National Grid, 15 different outages reported in Milford now, with 642 out of power. I'll be posting a story with the link to the outage map...
