The first baby of the New Year is Bella Sofia Julian, a girl born at 8:07 a.m. Tuesday, about 12 hours after her mother entered Milford Regional Medical Center.
She is the first child of Keisha and Jason Julian, of Hopedale. She weighed 6 lbs., 3-oz., and was 19 inches long.
Keisha Julian, 33, is a first-grade teacher with the Milford Public Schools, and Jason, also 33, an options trader.
The doctor who delivered the baby was Melissa Clough.
A day after the delivery, Keisha Julian held her daughter in her hospital room, and described the experience of becoming a parent as "overwhelming, beautiful."
"I knew I'd love her," she said. "Never in my life did I think I could have so much love."
Jason Julian said: "It inspired me to be a role model. I'm so inspired to do a good job."
