5 Things You Need to Know Today: Oct. 3

If you have a child at Milford High School, make a note to speak to their teachers Thursday at the first parent-teacher conference of the year.

Our weekday morning column, 5 Things You Need to Know, provides you with information that can help you plan your day and give you some fodder for water cooler conversations.

1. A reminder for all high school parents: the parent-teacher conferences are scheduled at Milford High School from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday. Teachers, counselors and administrators will be available to speak to parents.

2. The Milford Police Department now has a Facebook page. It features photos, videos, and media shares, including the Milford Patch police log column. Go ahead and 'like' them.

3. The 2012 leaf removal schedule is now online and available in print at the Milford Highway Department and other locations.

4. Want to learn how to play something called "Gaga Ball?" Alex Croteau, a Milford candidate for Eagle Scout, is hosting a community fun day Sunday at the new courts located between Stacy Middle School and Memorial Elementary School. He needs at least some willing souls to learn to play this "Dodge-ball" style game.

5. A student-staff basketball game will be held Oct. 12 at sponsored by the school's PTO. The game starts at 6:30 p.m.
