5 Things You Need to Know Today: Nov. 6

Make time to vote. It's the most important thing you will do today!

Our weekday morning column, 5 Things You Need to Know, provides you with information that can help you plan your day and give you some fodder for water cooler conversations.

1. It's election day, finally! If you are a registered voter, make sure you make time to cast your vote today. The polls open at 7 a.m. and will remain open until 8 p.m.

2. Two men accused in a violent home invasion at Rolling Green Apartments will remain jailed without bail while their cases proceed, according to Milford District Court records following a "dangerousness hearing" Monday. Rashad Blount, of Dorchester, and Richard D. Booker, of Middleborough, are charged with several felony offenses. They will next appear in court Dec. 7 for a pretrial conference.

3. Congratulations to Stephen Edward Holtsnider of Milford, who has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. His project involved creating two dugouts for the softball teams at Milford Town Park.

4. The ongoing construction of Main Street effective Wednesday through Friday, beginning at 5 a.m. and lasting until 6 p.m. The ban is contingent on weather that allows construction crews to operate.

5. If you see something unusual while waiting to vote Tuesday — a person in patriotic dress, something fun — snap a photo and share it with Milford Patch. We will be providing frequent updates throughout the day.
