GET INVOLVED! Casino-Free Milford's CALL TO ACTION, Sept. 18

All Milford citizens concerned about the Foxwoods casino proposal are invited to attend Casino-Free Milford's CALL TO ACTION RALLY September 18th, 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Parish Center.

State Representative John V. Fernandes and Former Connecticut Congressman Robert Steele to Speak at Rally

Casino-Free Milford invites all Milford citizens concerned about the casino proposal and its impact on our community to attend our upcoming Call to Action Rally:

  • Wednesday, September 18th
  • 7:00 p.m.
  • St. Mary’s Parish Center, 17 Winter Street
    (Main entrance on Sumner Street)
State Representative Fernandes will discuss the process to be followed by the Gaming Commission and other state agencies in review of applications for a casino license. Many people in town continue to have questions regarding the Massachusetts Gaming Act, the role of the Gaming Commission, how the Commission is evaluating each of the casino proponents, and where Milford’s proposal fits into all of this. Representative Fernandes is speaking to discuss the process--as he has not advocated for or against the proposal at this time.

Former Congressman Steele will share his experiences regarding the impact of Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun on Connecticut’s communities.

The time is NOW to get involved! Bring your friends and neighbors!

State Representative John V. Fernandes entered the legislature in January 2007 and serves the 10th Worcester District. A life-long Milford resident, Fernandes has been self-employed as an attorney since 1982 and maintains his office in Milford.  Fernandes received a Bachelors Degree in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts and his law degree from Suffolk University.

Robert H. Steele is vice chairman of an international retail marketing agency. A graduate of Amherst College and Columbia University, he served in the CIA and Congress, and was a candidate for governor of Connecticut. Steele has lived two decades on the edge of the Mashantucket Pequot Reservation, making him uniquely qualified to share insights into the 1990s gambling expansion in Connecticut.
