CONSIDER THIS! Casino Will Impact Hospital, Water, Traffic

Foxwoods is claiming minimal impact to Milford Hospital with only 1 additional patient per day. With over 7 million visitors to the casino, it is Guaranteed that there will be many more due to more accidents, mental health issues (addictions, etc.), and the health issues of some of these visitors.

Milford Water Company Manager David Condrey has stated that the water company would have issues supplying water to the casino if they came on line today. The host agreement calls for Foxwoods to find 135 percent of their water requirements even before breaking ground. If Foxwoods uses more water than they have estimated, it is Guaranteed that Milford will be on increased water restriction for many years to come.

I’m confused how the traffic mitigation plans for Route 16 that includes adjusting the timing of the light signals will alleviate the horrific Route 16 traffic. Mass Highway just finished reconstructing many of the Route 16 intersections and adjusted the timing for today’s volumes. It is Guaranteed that the traffic gridlock will be worse with the addition of so many more cars and trucks.

I also want to understand what the actual reduction to our property tax will be. The Town Assessor’s office has reported an average reduction of $1,800 if ALL of the revenue from Foxwoods is applied to the tax rate. If only 25 percent of the money is applied to the tax base, then it is estimated that the average reduction will only be about $500. It is Guaranteed that Milford will not apply the entire Foxwoods payment to the tax base.
