Roman's Were More Advanced with Gladiators than NFL

Surprise Surprise

It seems that the best treatment of violent predators was achieved by the Romans between 300 BC and 500 AD. Then, the predilection to violence while very great amongst the population at large was partially controlled by catharsis wherein the audience's urge for violence was dissipated by the actions of the performers in the coliseums.

Further control was maintained by not allowing these people out into the general population even after death. During their useful(?) performances of murdering each other and others, such as prisoners and animals, these sociopaths were kept isolated in debauched luxury.

They were not allowed into the general population when not in the arena.

Too bad that we have lost that perspective of the modern gladiator. As a result, not only do they murder for pay on Sunday, they murder for play the other 6 days.

Do not mourn for them. They do know what they do.
