Phantom Gourmet's Andelman Brothers Buy Mendon Twin Drive-In

The old-fashioned venue, located in close proximity to Milford, will celebrate its 60th anniversary this year.

Milford residents who frequent the Mendon Twin Drive-In during the summer months may notice a few small changes during the upcoming seasons.

The drive-in, which opened in 1954 and will celebrate its 60th anniversary this summer, was recently sold to the Phantom Gourmet's Dan, Dave and Mike Andelman.

For the last 27 years, the venue has been owned and operated by Sue Swanson and Kathy Gorman, with whom the Andelman brothers said they plan to work closely during the upcoming season.

"We've had an amazing run with the Mendon Twin Drive-In and it's time we pass the torch onto new owners who will love it as much as we have and always will," Swanson said in a statement. "Given their expertise in the entertainment business, we're fully confident that the Andelmans will be able to bring an event more enjoyable and special drive-in experience for many years to come."

The drive-in will open for the 2014 season on Friday, April 11 and will be open nightly from Memorial Day through Labor Day, as well as on weekends during the months of April, May, September and October. The Andelman brothers said they plan to bring additional fun and excitement to the drive-in, with theme nights as well as special events and family-friendly promotions.

"Our family made frequent trips to the Mendon Twin Drive-In when my brothers and I were growing up, and it's always been something that is very dear to us," Mike Andelman, Phantom Gourmet Vice President of Business Development, said in a statement. "With there bing so few drive-ins left in our county, we thought it would be an incredible opportunity to continue to grow this landmark destination that means so much to so many people."

The drive-in features two screens that digitally project a double-feature of first-run movies for $25 per car. For more information, visit www.mendondrivein.com.
