Phantom Gourmet-Owned Mendon Twin Drive-In to Open This Weekend

A cake will be available to feed up to 1,000 people at the opening event.

The Mendon Twin Drive-In, which last month announced it had been sold to the Phantom Gourmet, will open its doors to area patrons this weekend.

The drive-in theater is slated to open at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 18. The cost for patrons is $25 per car. Friday's showings include Rio 2 and Mr. Peabody & Sherman on Screen 1, while Screen 2 will feature showings of Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Divergent.

But that's not all.

To celebrate the opening, the brothers will have on hand a cake that will feed 1,000 people, courts of White's Bakery & Cafe. And after the final credits roll, each car will take home a "Wicked Whoopie Pie" parting gift.

Last month, the drive-in's previous owners Kathy Gorman and Sue Swanson announced that the Phantom Gourmet's Dan, Dave and Mike Andelman had bought the historic outdoor theater. Gorman and Swanson are staying on board as consultants throughout the season to help the Andelman brothers assimilate into the new capacity.
