Actually Cargill is recalling the beef, not Hannaford!

Isn't this the second time this year they have recalled their meat? And who has meat still from May that they could return?

Yes, both of you are correct. The beef would be sold at Hannaford's, however, so the returned beef should be taken there. And yes, there was a recall in December 2011. The concern here is that people have it in their freezers. The link to the U.S. agriculture site says 33 people were sickened and two hospitalized.

Milford Hannaford specifically did not carry any meat affected by this recall. However, Hannaford will gladly refund any and all ground beef that customers wish to get their money back on.

Well this is ridiculous, telling us two months later. Was it frozen patties or fresh ground ? The middle of Hannaford's packaged hamburg is always gray so who knows what we are getting, old mixed with new. Where is the quality control, and respect for the consumer ? No wonder cancer rates are so high. The meat industry is only interested in $$. Slime anyone?
