Foxwoods MA Casino: What it Now Includes

You Asked, Patch Answers: what is in the proposed casino?

The proposed casino for Milford has increased in size since Foxwoods Massachusetts described the resort complex in a series of public meetings in June and July. The proposed host agreement now before Milford Selectmen includes an exhibit that describes the project and what it includes.

Here is the description paraphrased from the host community agreement, with recent changes in brackets.

The project is a mixed-use commercial and casino resort real estate development of approximately 980,000 square-feet (excluding structured parking). [Original design called for 660,000 square-feet].

Components include the following elements and sizes:

1. A main building that will contain a podium for gaming, food and beverage, retail, office and physical plant space and two or three mid-rise hotel room buildings with the following:

[The plan initially called for a 165,000 square-foot casino space]

(b) Two or three mid-rise hotel room structures of about 450,000 square-feet, comprising an approximately 500-room, four-star hotel with amenities and finishes characteristic of the upper upscale market. [The plan initially called for a 350 room hotel occupying 276,00-square-feet.]

(c) An approximately 4,000-square-foot spa and fitness facility. [Original plan called for a rooftop outdoor swimming pool.]

(d) Modern, finished meeting and convention space and related pre-function and back-of-hous/food preparation areas totaling about 30,000 square feet. [Initial plan called for a 25,000-square-foot space]

(j) Approximately 30,000 square feet of central plant space. [Original plan called for 26,000 square-feet.]
